"You could end up in a crisis situation where the battery companies don't have the security of (lithium) feedstock," Stu Crow, chairman of Lake Resources (LKE.AX), said on the sidelines of this week's Fastmarkets Lithium and Battery Raw Materials conference in Las Vegas. This week, Lake Resources became the latest lithium company to announce a project delay, pushing back first production from its Kachi lithium project in Argentina by three years. Albemarle (ALB.N), the world's largest lithium producer, is growing rapidly across the Americas, Asia and Australia. Still, it expects global lithium demand to exceed supply by 500,000 metric tons in 2030. ATTENDANCEOnce a niche event attended by industry die-hards, the Fastmarkets conference has grown rapidly alongside breakneck lithium demand.

HOUSTON, June 21 (Reuters) - Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM.N) and Guyana are in talks over which unexplored offshore areas will be returned to the government, people close to the discussions said, as the nascent oil nation seeks to attract new operators to the country. The Exxon-led consortium that controls offshore production in Guyana this year was required to return 20% of unexplored acres, under the original 2016 production contract. Reuters Graphics Reuters GraphicsCONTRACT FORCE MAJEUREThe relinquishment deadline for the 20% unexplored portion of the Stabroek block is due in October, one of the people said. Guyana plans to hold its first competitive oil blocks auction in August, which it expects to attract new operators to the country. It will offer 14 offshore blocks outside the Exxon group's domains.

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell's congressional testimony Wednesday looms as a potential market mover. All three major U.S. equity indexes ended the session in the red but off session lows, with oil super-majors Exxon Mobil Corp weighing on the S&P 500 and the Dow. The broad sell-off comes on the heels of the Nasdaq's longest weekly winning streak since March 2019, and the S&P 500's longest since November 2021. As of Friday's close, the benchmark S&P 500 had advanced 20% in the last twelve months, and over 14% so far this year. Boric's shock announcement was all the more surprising as no DLE technology has reached commercial production without the use of those ponds, sparking competition to be the first. "Given those demand projections, there's definitely need for more supply from DLE," said Jordan Roberts, a Fastmarkets lithium industry analyst. A customer aiming to produce 15,000 metric tons of lithium each year, for example, could buy three stackable IBAT lithium plants. Exxon has also held talks with EnergySource Minerals about licensing DLE technology, two of the people said. Many brine deposits have varied chemical compositions, meaning it's unlikely that one DLE technology will emerge as a global leader.

According to the Association of Real Estate License Law Officials, more than three million people hold active real estate licenses in the U.S. That’s a lot of people with a range of experience and expertise. That’d be “knowledge,” says Philip Hordijk, founder of real-estate brokerage Leven Real Estate. A note of caution: Think hard before choosing a friend or family member to help with a real estate transaction. Search online directories—with careThere are plenty of third-party real estate sites that offer agent directories, too, including Realtor.com and Zillow. Real-estate broker vs. agentThere is also a differentiation between a real-estate agent and a real-estate broker.

Shell makes risky pitch for the middle ground

He has stressed that Shell, currently trading around five times expected 2024 earnings compared to twice that for its U.S. peers, merits more generosity. Shell will hike its dividend by 15% and spend $1 billion more on buybacks, starting in the second quarter. He will invest $10 billion to $15 billion in so-called low-carbon solutions like biofuels and hydrogen between 2023 and 2025. Equally, Wednesday’s plan will disappoint climate-focused shareholders, who currently form roughly 15% of Shell’s investor register based on recent votes on emission cuts. Shell shares have outperformed both U.S. and European rivals since Sawan took over in January.

Larry Ellison, Oracle's chairman and technology chief, speaks at the Oracle OpenWorld conference in San Francisco on September 16, 2019. For years, the database software developer lagged behind tech rivals in building cloud technology that met the demands of the modern-day enterprise. The shares are up over 50% in 2023, which would mark the best year for shareholders since the dot-com boom of 1999. Oracle got its latest boost this week after reporting stronger-than-expected earnings and revenue, prompting nods of approval from analysts. On Oracle's earnings call this week, CEO Safra Catz took a minute to express gratitude to the company's customers and employees.

SummarySummary Companies Futures down: Dow 0.14%, S&P 0.09%, Nasdaq 0.03%June 6 (Reuters) - Wall Street futures slipped on Tuesday as investors assessed chances of the Federal Reserve holding interest rate at its meeting next week, with mixed data adding to uncertainty around the policy outlook. While that signaled the Fed's monetary tightening was cooling the world's largest economy, it comes close on the heels of strong jobs data last week, clouding the outlook for the Fed's policy path. Investors are now focused on inflation data due next week ahead of the Fed meet. Consumer prices are likely to have cooled slightly on a month-over-month basis in May but core prices are expected to have remained sticky. Fed fund futures imply traders have priced in a 76% chance that the Fed will hold interest rates in the 5%-5.25% range, according to CMEGroup's Fedwatch tool.

SINGAPORE, June 3 (Reuters) - Canadian Defence Minister Anita Anand said on Saturday that the country's critical infrastructure was increasingly being targeted by cyberattacks, posing a significant threat to the economy of the world's fourth-largest crude oil producer. In an interview on the sidelines of an Asian security summit in Singapore, Anand said there had been an increase in cyberattacks across North America, although she did not attribute the strikes to any state-sponsored actors. Canada is home to a number of large oil pipelines that are important for global crude supplies. Multinational energy companies like Exxon Mobil (XOM.N) and Royal Dutch Shell (SHEL.L) have major operations in the country. HOUSTON, May 31 (Reuters) - Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM.N) and Chevron Corp (CVX.N) shareholders on Wednesday overwhelmingly rejected calls for stronger measures to mitigate climate change, dismissing more than a dozen climate-related proposals at their annual meetings. His group, which represents some 9,500 shareholders in oil and gas companies, had requested Exxon set medium-term targets for meeting customer emissions reduction goals that seeks to keep global temperature increase below 1.5° Celsius. That resolution received less than half of the support 11% of vote cast compared with 27% from the group's emission reduction proposal last year. The companies targeted in the 2023 campaign include repeat non-disclosers such as Exxon Mobil(XOM.N), Glencore (GLEN.L) and Caterpillar (CAT.N), CDP said in a statement. Since it launched in 2017, CDP has expanded the universe of companies it targets for data disclosure. That has meant the number of non-disclosing companies targeted this year is higher than in its 2022 campaign. Despite the progress, disclosure remains a problem in high-emitting sectors and getting laggards to submit data will prove tricky, she acknowledged. Overall, about 50% of companies across sectors disclose environmental data, Elsdon told Reuters.

The annual shareholder meetings of Exxon Mobil and Chevron, scheduled for Wednesday, are set to be largely sedate, as they will be held virtually. Despite the drama, however, climate-focused shareholder activists are being forced to rethink their approach, two years after the tiny hedge fund Engine No. 1 won a stunning victory over Exxon, Vivienne Walt writes for DealBook. Activists have failed to win more than 50 percent in many key proxy votes since then. And it comes despite major investors backing shareholder activists’ efforts: Norway’s $1.4 trillion sovereign wealth fund, for instance, has pledged to side with them on climate issues on the ballot at Exxon and Chevron.
Leading fund manager Matt Fruhan found success this year by continuing to prioritize valuations. Two of those standout funds, the Fidelity Mega Cap Stock Fund (FGRTX) and the Fidelity Advisor Mega Cap Stock Fund (FGTAX), are virtually identical, except for their class and ticker. The fund manager told Insider that he applies the same investing process and principles across all of his funds. "Some investors are kind of reactive to the market and let the market tell them what to think," Fruhan said. And that's how you get separation from the stock market over time."
