CNN —Ukraine launched a drone attack on a Russian chemical plant in the western city of Tula overnight on Friday into Saturday, according to the country’s security service. According to the SBU, Aleksinsky chemical plant was hit by at least 13 Ukrainian drones, resulting in explosions and clouds of smoke following the attack. Social media footage verified by CNN shows the attack on Aleksinsky chemical plant, which lies around 120 miles (200 km) south of Moscow, launched by Ukraine’s SBU Security Service and Special Operations Forces. The security service is carrying out a “comprehensive operation” against facilities in Russian territory that are involved in the war in Ukraine, a source in the SBU said. The governor of Tula region, Dmitriy Miliayev, said a drone attack overnight from Ukraine was foiled by Russia, but did not mention the chemical plant, in a statement on Saturday.

The US has sent Ukraine and Israel billions of dollars worth of ammunition in recent years. The wars in Ukraine and the Middle East show the US how much ammo it will need for its next big war. Beyond the ammunition, the US has also sent Ukraine a significant amount of armored vehicles, air-defense systems, drones, anti-tank weapons, small arms, and more. Given Beijing's formidable arsenal of anti-ship missiles, Navy vessels would need to be well-armed with interceptors to take down these threats and defend American assets in the Pacific. The US has transferred Patriot batteries and their associated interceptor missiles to Ukraine, where they have gotten a workout against Russian missiles.

CNN —The US carried out a series of strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen late Saturday evening, according to a US defense official, targeting numerous weapons storage facilities across at least three locations. The facilities housed advanced conventional weapons used to target ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, said the official, who added that the US used fighter jets to carry out the attack. The Iran-backed Houthis have for months targeted ships in the Red Sea, one of the world’s busiest waterways, calling the attacks a response to Israel’s war in Gaza against Hamas. The Houthis, Hamas and Hezbollah are all part of an Iran-led alliance spanning Yemen, Syria, Gaza and Iraq that has attacked Israel and its allies since the war began last year. Austin said he authorized the strikes at the direction of President Joe Biden to “further degrade” the Houthis’ capabilities.

"There were 17 days during the study period when missile launches exceeded 82 missiles in a single day," CSIS said. Jurors will deliberate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday until they reach a verdict, according to WTHR. Last month, 16 Allen County residents were selected to serve on the jury, including four people serving as alternates, WTHR said. “I believe the evidence is firmly convincing that Richard Allen is Bridge Guy and he killed Abby and Libby,” McLeland told the jury. Prosecutors drew attention to the .40-caliber unspent round found by the girls’ bodies, which a prosecution expert testified matched Allen’s pistol. He also pointed out that Allen still lived in Delphi for more than five years after the girls were killed.

To be clear: Trump does not inherit a world at peace, where America’s unquestioning role as a beacon of freedom and moral superiority has brought enduring calm. Yet Tehran now has experience of Trump as someone willing to be wildly incautious and unafraid of international norms. As President Joe Biden - who did all he could to avoid war with Iran - leaves power, Iran looks incredibly weak. But in the current moment we are at in the war, Ukraine is equally in need of time to regroup and rearm. Officials and business leaders shared pessimistic economic outlooks for 2025 at the Russian Economic Forum, held this week in Chelyabinsk, in central Russia. Andrei Klepach, chief economist at the state-run development entity VEB.RF, predicted that economic growth would fall from an estimated 2.5% to around 2% in 2025. Russia's brain drain has become its economy's biggest problem, an economist told Business Insider. The long-lasting nature of brain drain makes the issue more serious than, say, inflation, which could be remedied by central bank maneuvering. Over the next decade, Russia's economy could devolve into one dependent mainly on its natural resources rather than on the most innovative industries, Portes speculated. That's similar to what other economic forecasters have predicted, with some warning Russia's economy could become de-industrialized as its resources are siphoned off by the war.
