Just over two months ago, the S&P 500 was at a breaking point. After Keller's call, the S&P 500 rose nearly 6% in six weeks. The S&P 500 was stuck in purgatory for weeks, barely budging from the 4,769 level at which it entered 2024. David Keller, StockCharts.comExpect the S&P 500 to heat up heading into the summerDespite stocks' shaky near-term prospects, Keller believes their medium-term outlook is rosy. In all likelihood, Keller said the S&P 500 will regain momentum after a near-term hiccup and push toward the 5,000 milestone in April, May, or June.

He joined his private access program, a paid educational platform for trading stocks, where he spent a year learning the content. The stock's price should pull back organically, meaning the volume parallel to the downward price move should be gradual. On a daily chart like the one above, it's based on the past nine days. If the stock's price doesn't fall below it or forms a support line, it signals that the price could likely retrace and increase. Instead of entering five to 10 trades daily, he now keeps it at two to three.

Cristóbal Balenciaga: Secrets of his success

Yet the label’s origins were rather more discreet; founder Cristóbal Balenciaga was renowned for his privacy, secrecy and need for control over every aspect of the design process. “Even though Balenciaga was born very near to where I live in Spain, I didn’t know how important his figure was,” said Lourdes Iglesias, creator of “Cristóbal Balenciaga,” in an interview with CNN via a translator. Cristóbal Balenciaga in 1927, before the war in Spain forced him to move his business to Paris. “He liked to control everything.”The Balenciaga Maison allowed series’ costume designers, Bina Daigeler and Pepo Ruiz Dorado, access to their archives and museum. Our paid AI futureToday, we're at the start of a similarly exciting new technology wave with generative AI. Even Google, the master of free online services, is considering paid subscriptions for some of its new AI offerings. So, why will generative AI offerings be paid from the start? One possible answer is that ads may not work as well in this new generative AI future. Charging for new generative AI services is one way to create new earnings.

Now that she’s released the deluxe edition — in honor of her 78th birthday, on Friday! — Dolly Parton’s already sprawling double album “Rockstar” runs nearly three hours long and clocks in at an indefatigably rockin’ 39 tracks. “I know the game, you’ll forget my name,” she sings, with a slight ache in her voice. “And I won’t be here in another year, if I don’t stay on the charts.” Given that “Rockstar” became the highest-charting album of Parton’s career just a few months ago, that fate seems, blessedly, unlikely. After reaching the 4,700 level in mid-December, the S & P 500 has essentially been rangebound between 4,700 and 4,800. While the S & P 500 has remained rangebound, the NYSE advance-decline line (second panel) has already broken to a new swing low. The next panel shows the percentage of S & P 500 members that are trading above their 50-day moving average. Finally, we have the S & P 500 Bullish Percent Index, which reveals the percentage of S & P 500 members that are currently showing a bullish signal on their point & figure charts. I'd need to see a breakdown below S & P 500 4,450 before I'd begin to really question that thesis.

Read previewThe US labor market has continued to flex its muscles amid a historically aggressive Federal Reserve tightening cycle. This story is available exclusively to Business Insider subscribers. The unemployment rate is 3.7%, not too far from an over five-decade low of 3.4% hit in April 2023. While the headline number is strong, however, there are indications under the surface that the job market is weakening — perhaps even to a worrying degree. Below, we've compiled six charts showing how the labor market is softening to the same degree seen in prior recessions in some ways.

CNN —Drinking a glass or more of 100% fruit juice each day was linked to a small increase in weight in children and adults, according to a new analysis of prior studies. In such a context, fruit juice is a much better choice than soda, for many reasons,” said Katz in an email. How juice impacts the bodyFor some, the concern over 100% fruit juice may be baffling — fruit is healthy, right? Eating a whole apple, for example, doesn’t spike blood sugar levels because fructose, the sugar found naturally in fruits and some vegetables, is released slowly into the blood. In children, each additional serving per day of 100% fruit juice was associated with a 0.03 higher body mass index, or BMI, change, according to the study.

However strange it sounds, that contradiction fits snugly in explanations of what climate change is doing to Earth, scientists said. But when the polar vortex weakens, the arms start flailing out, the skater slips and “all the cold air then gets released away from the center of the polar vortex," Cohen said. The current cold outbreak is consistent with Arctic change and the polar vortex, Cohen said. Cohen and others have done studies that show the polar vortex outbreaks have become more frequent in recent decades. But another polar vortex looks like it's coming at the end of the month, though not as strong as this one, they said.

The phenomenon, known as a starling murmuration in English or “black sun” in Danish, lasts just minutes, or even seconds. But it left a lasting impression on Danish photographer Søren Solkær, who first witnessed the spectacle when he was 10 years old. “The first thing that came to mind was starling murmurations … this big piece of calligraphy in the sky,” he told CNN. “It’s an ongoing effort,” said White House chief of staff Jeff Zients. “Under his leadership, we’ve attacked inflation from every angle.”The question is whether voters are feeling the improvement and will reward Biden. Or will they penalize him because inflation became a problem on his watch as the U.S. emerged from pandemic shutdowns? Past and current Biden administration officials say the decline in inflation since then was a result of a set of choices. Much of the public saw inflation through the lens of their grocery stores, strip malls and gas stations, but the White House considered it a worldwide issue.

Stocks ended on a high note last year, but were tested by the Federal Reserve’s interest rate hikes, banking turmoil, debt ceiling worries and war in the Middle East. Many early-year consensus predictions about what 2023 would bring — including a recession and several rate cuts — didn’t pan out. CNN spoke with five investors about the biggest lessons they learned and how they’ve helped shape their 2024 outlooks. Fundamentals have to start matteringThe S&P 500 index gained 24% last year despite an earnings recession, often defined as at least two straight quarters of corporate profit losses. Fourth-quarter earnings, which kick off on Friday with results from big banks, are expected to grow about 1% in the fourth quarter of 2023.
