Brandy is speaking out after reports that she suffered a health scare. On Oct. 12, TMZ, citing anonymous law enforcement sources, reported that the 43-year-old musician had been taken to a Los Angeles hospital after emergency medical services responded to a call at her home. A few hours after the news broke, Brandy posted an update about her health on her Instagram story. “To my beloved fam, friends, and starz thank you for sending love and light my way,” the statement said. Earlier this year, Brandy channeled the late legendary singer during the NFC championship game between the Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers.

Norwood, known for her musical hits like “The Boy is Mine,” most recently starred in the ABC musical drama, “Queens,” which was cancelled earlier this year after one season. She and the cast of “Cinderella” reunited just a few months ago, to mark the beloved movie’s 25th anniversary.

During the interview, Fetterman occasionally stuttered and had trouble finding words. Oz has criticized Fetterman for agreeing to just one debate — and accused his rival of hiding from voters during the stroke recovery.
Nearly seven decades after her first film, she was awarded an honorary Oscar for lifetime achievement at age 88 in November 2013. "I feel really undeserving of this gorgeous chap," Lansbury said, referring to the golden Oscar statuette she was given. "Not since the heyday of Bette Davis had there been an actress of this range and accomplishment," wrote critic David Shipman. Lansbury was born in London in 1925 and went to the United States in 1940 to avoid the war with her mother, actress Moyna McGill, who appeared in several Hollywood films. A new report from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office tracks wealth distribution. The report finds that American families in the top 10% held 72% of the country's wealth in 2019. US families in the top 10% of the wealth distribution added about $60 trillion to their wealth from 1989 to 2019, while the bottom half of Americans added just under $1 trillion to their total wealth during the same time. The report, requested by Sen. Bernie Sanders, shows just how uneven wealth distribution is in the US — and how the rich have only gotten richer. "The total wealth held by families in the top 10 percent increased at a faster rate than wealth held by families in the rest of the distribution."
Hong Kong CNN —Chinese leader Xi Jinping has made his first public appearance since returning from a trip to Central Asia, quashing unfounded rumors of a “coup” that sparked a frenzy of speculation ahead of a key Communist Party meeting. Xi on Tuesday visited an exhibition in Beijing showcasing China’s achievements over his decade in power, according to state broadcaster CCTV. Xi had not been seen in public since returning to Beijing from a regional summit in Uzbekistan on September 16. The visit was his first foreign trip in nearly 1,000 days since the beginning of the pandemic. As a result, the power of party factions and elders is believed to have been significantly weakened.
The committee had been planning to hold another hearing on Wednesday but postponed it due to the hurricane approaching Florida. “Nothing provided by the Jan. 6 committee can be considered credible, or unedited or not manipulated," Stone told NBC News Tuesday. The committee has also obtained a trove of Secret Service documents from the period around the Jan. 6 attack. "I think it’s certainly something that will be explored," at the hearing, said the committee member who requested anonymity. “We all swore the same oath to the Constitution,” Cheney told NBC News in a statement, responding to the GOP criticism she’s faced.
The toy giants realize that many adults aren’t just looking to buy toys for their children, grandkids, nieces and nephews. Companies like Hasbro (HAS) are increasingly looking to adults (and not just parents) as buyers for nostalgic products, whether its gifts for older loved ones, friends or for themselves. Toy companies and other collectibles makers clearly recognize that grown-up shoppers are still invested in the brands that they played with as kids. Mattel (MAT) is hoping to cash in from more adults buying toys for other grown-ups as well. “The Bear Cave has more lighthearted products for adults,” Price John said, including some bears drinking a glass (or bottle) of wine.
The survey ranked 182 cities based on four key categories of equal weight: affordability, activities, quality of life and health care. When it comes to the best cities to spend your retirement years, the Sunshine state takes nearly half of the top 10 spots, according to WalletHub's 2022 Best and Worst Places to Retire survey. Additionally, if you'll be living on a fixed income in retirement, be sure to plan your expenses and lifestyle accordingly, Wolske says. One of the biggest retirement planning mistakes people make is not properly preparing for additional medical expenses, Wolske says. A 65-year-old couple retiring in 2022 can expect to spend an average of $315,000 in health-care and medical expenses in their retirement, according to Fidelity Investment's August estimate.

Researchers focused on 10 categories related to voting, including registration, inconvenience, early voting, polling hours and absentee voting. The state also stopped using special voting deputies, officials whose tasks had sometimes included conducting voter registration drives, according to the study. To assess the voting laws passed after the 2020 election, this year’s Cost of Voting Index study added new categories and scoring. While the political debate surrounding new election laws has centered on ballots and the voting process, the Cost of Voting Index also gives heavy weight to the ease of voter registration. States rank higher in the index if they allow voter registration drives, provide automatic voter registration, offer same-day registration and maintain longer periods in which to register.
It was 1988, and he'd approached President Ronald Reagan in the Cabinet room at the White House. People scoffed at the glowing hourlong media conference that President Donald Trump's White House doctor gave about his health. Reagan publicly announced he had Alzheimer's disease five years after he left the White House. Francis Shen, who teaches psychiatry at Harvard Medical School's Center for Bioethics, would like to see information about political leaders' cognitive health made public. Cognitive health should be no different, he said, because it also might affect the way presidents and members of Congress make important decisions.

But please understand: I didn't drink ayahuasca so I could write an article about it. I wrote an article about it so I could drink ayahuasca. I was desperate to drink ayahuasca — I had been for several months, in fact — and the formality of an assignment would help me out at home. Instead, a friend of a friend linked me up with an ayahuasca sangha, a Buddhist word for a spiritual community. I thought of my old friend, Scott, who, many years before, had declined an opportunity to drink ayahuasca.

The amendment has been invoked in this way only three times before, and coincidentally, each time has involved presidential colons. The 25th Amendment of the Constitution was passed in 1967 after fears about presidential succession after President John F. Kennedy's assassination. The first time this happened was on July 13, 1985, when President Ronald Reagan sent a letter directing then-Vice President George H.W. The first case occurred on June 29, 2002 when he invoked the 25th Amendment and allowed Vice President Dick Cheney to act as president on his behalf for two hours and five minutes. In both cases, Bush, like Reagan, had undergone colon-related procedures, but his were of a much more benign nature — they were routine colonoscopies.
