New York, NY CNN —Jake Tapper is moving to primetime as part of a sweeping set of programming changes CNN announced Thursday that will take effect through the midterm elections. Tapper, the network’s lead Washington anchor, will anchor the 9 p.m. hour starting October 10 and continuing until November 11. The announcement about Tapper was accompanied by a slew of other major programming changes. Alisyn Camerota, co-anchor of “CNN Newsroom” in the afternoons, and Laura Coates, senior legal analyst, will anchor from 10 p.m. to midnight through the midterm elections, CNN said. CNN said Lemon will sign off his primetime program on October 7 to prepare for the new show.
Few think another G7 central bank would be bold enough to intervene directly as Japan did on Thursday. But they say markets should prepare for more verbal intervention and more aggressive rate hikes as policymakers try to thwart the U.S. currency's ascent. The dollar surge follows aggressive Federal Reserve interest rate hikes, recession fears and geopolitical uncertainty following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The yen, its central bank sticking to ultra-loose policy even as others raise rates, has been the biggest loser. Richard Benson, co-chief investment officer at Millennium Global Investments, said aside from the SNB, which intervenes regularly, another central bank intervention was unlikely.
That's left some big portfolios sitting on the market — but don't expect the lull to last long. This past summer, a huge portfolio of 2,000 homes hit the market. The market for single-family-rental portfolios, once red-hot, has slowed considerably as the biggest participants face higher borrowing costs and market volatility. The challenges aren't limited to big SFR portfolios. Deals are still getting done, too — one SFR portfolio traded in August for a little more than $140 million, according to a person with knowledge of the deal.
NEW YORK — Yeshiva University has abruptly suspended student club activity in the wake of a U.S. Supreme Court decision earlier this week that ordered the school to recognize — for now — an LGBTQ student group. The disagreement among the justices appears to be mostly about procedure, with the majority writing in a brief unsigned order that Yeshiva should return to state court to seek quick review and temporary relief while the case continues. If it gets neither from state courts, the school can return to the Supreme Court, the majority wrote. A New York state court sided with the student group and ordered the university to recognize the club immediately. The matter remains on appeal in the state court system, but judges there refused to put the order on hold in the meantime.
Former US Attorney Geoffrey Berman said the potential for a second Trump administration "frightens me." Berman said Trump would repeat "all of the dangerous and outrageous things he did as president" in a second term. The prospect of a second Trump administration frightens me," Berman said. If there's a second administration, he'll be free of those concerns." At a rally in Youngstown, Ohio this weekend, Trump decried the "unprecedented weaponization of the Justice Department and the FBI," NBC reported.
Conservative lawyer George Conway joins CNN's John Berman to discuss former President Trump's recent comments on Hugh Hewitt's radio show, where he says there will be "big problems" if he's indicted.
Corporate owners of single-family homes face mounting criticism as their presence grows. Organizers from the Center for Public Democracy stood atop the stage at the Park Hyatt hotel in Washington, DC, where they interrupted a conference for owners of single-family rental homes. Institutional owners of single-family homes have typically preferred to operate quietly. In the decade-plus since the financial crisis, institutional investors have poured billions of dollars into acquiring and developing single-family homes for rent. It's for that reason that Howard is concerned about homeowners associations barring investors from buying homes in certain neighborhoods.
Disney executive Joe Earley was named president of Hulu in January. "This is the best outcome for them," said a former Hulu executive, noting that Earley's "superpower" is navigating the type of complicated internal conflicts that have plagued the streamer's leaders. Under Earley, Hulu will have "an advocate," the former executive said. Many in Hollywood believe Disney hasn't taken Hulu international because it doesn't want to further boost the platform's overall valuation. It will also be Earley's job to redefine the Hulu brand once it becomes 100% owned by Disney.

With the term “personal taxes,” however, Mr. Garten appears to be conflating income taxes with other federal taxes Mr. Trump has paid — Social Security, Medicare and taxes for his household employees. Fragments of Mr. Trump’s tax returns have leaked out before. Mr. Agalarov’s father, Aras, a billionaire who boasts of close ties to Mr. Putin, was Mr. Trump’s partner in the event. Mr. Trump’s avoidance of income taxes is one of the most striking discoveries in his tax returns, especially given the vast wash of income itemized elsewhere in those filings. When they got to line 56, the one for income taxes due, the amount was the same each year: $750.
Many of them are preparing for the next phase of life in the stock market — one characterized by stimulus uncertainty and a US economic recovery that's lagging the rest of the world. He foresees a so-called squeeze higher for value stocks, and recommends that investors position their portfolios to profit from a rotation away from popular growth names. Look no further:Chart of the weekJPMorganThe JPMorgan chart above — compiled by the firm's quant guru, Marko Kolanovic — shows that value stocks are now trading at a record cheapness relative to growth.
