Former President Donald Trump on Monday threatened John Deere with a 200% tariff if the agricultural manufacturer moves production to factories in Mexico. John Deere has announced that it plans to shift production of some of its models to Mexico, a move that has resulted in layoffs at facilities in Iowa. It's hurting our manufacturing," Trump said Monday. Monday appeared to be the first time Trump had singled out John Deere. The former president's comments appeared to be off the cuff, prompted only by the John Deere tractors that were set up as the backdrop of the event.

Federal and state police across the country warned about a rise in the number of email "sextortion" scams this month. The Maryland State Police said in a statement on Thursday that reports of one sextortion scam targeting Gmail users surged in August and September. In these scams, someone tells a victim they have access to embarrassing search history or compromising photos. This means the scammers may have access to your email and even some of your current or former passwords, but they do not have access to your computer or search history. The Maryland State Police say to be cautious of any "unsolicited" emails you receive to your Gmail account to avoid being the victim of a scam.

Family offices are the most bullish they've been in years, putting their cash to work in stocks and alternatives as the Fed starts to cut interest rates, according to a new survey. Nearly all family offices, 97%, expect positive returns this year, and nearly half expect double-digit gains, according to Citi Private Bank's 2024 Global Family Office Survey.
