Lyle Menendez and Erik Menendez killed their parents in 1989, but they have the support of family members. The first season of "Monster" was about Jeffrey Dahmer, and angered his victims' families. AdvertisementOnce again, Netflix's "Monsters" has angered the families at the center of the true crime show, but co-creator Ryan Murphy is standing firm. Lyle Menendez and Erik Menendez admitted to killing their parents during their first trial in 1993, arguing they acted in self-defense after years of abuse. The lender disclosed that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau could punish JPMorgan for its role in Zelle, the giant peer-to-peer digital payments network. In response, JPMorgan issued a thinly veiled threat: "The firm is evaluating next steps, including litigation." Trade groups say that in the aftermath of the financial crisis, banks became easy targets for populist attacks from Democrat-led regulatory agencies. Amid the scrutiny, the bank began warning Zelle users on the Chase app to "Stay safe from scams" and added disclosures that customers won't likely be refunded for bogus transactions. While all of these battles are ongoing, the financial industry has racked up several victories so far.

“It’ll take him months on end to train for the job,” said Gadi Eisenkot, a highly respected former Israeli military chief and member of the opposition. Policy and domestic politics are impossible to separate in any democracy, but especially in Netanyahu’s Israel – and especially now. Remarkably, Netanyahu held a security consultation on Wednesday but did not invite his defense minister, an Israeli official told CNN. Hezbollah says that it’s attacking Israel in solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza; Israel wants to get Hezbollah to stop firing even without a Gaza ceasefire and hostage deal. With both the Philadelphi Corridor and Hezbollah, Netanyahu’s critics have questioned why, if they were so critical, he waited months to raise the stakes over those issues.

CNN —US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin warned Friday of “devastating” consequences if Israel engages in an all-out war with Hezbollah, telling CNN in an exclusive interview that casualties would “equal or exceed” the number in Gaza. “An all-out war between Lebanese, Hezbollah and Israel would be devastating for both Lebanon and Israel. And again, we anticipate that we’d see a number of people displaced, casualties that, you know, equal or exceed what we’ve seen in Gaza,” Austin told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer. Asked by Blitzer if continued US aid to Israel undermines Washington’s efforts to secure a ceasefire in Lebanon, Austin on Friday reiterated the long-standing alliance. “We’ve been clear from the very beginning that that we’re going to support Israel in its efforts to defend itself,” Austin said.

HOUSTON — A Black high school student in Texas who was punished for nearly all of his junior year over his hairstyle has left his school district rather than spend another year of in-school suspension, according to his attorney. It would allow him to return to school while a federal lawsuit he filed proceeds. George’s federal lawsuit also alleged that his punishment violates the CROWN Act, a recent state law prohibiting race-based discrimination of hair. In February, a state judge ruled in a lawsuit filed by the school district that its punishment does not violate the CROWN Act. Barbers Hill’s hair policy was also challenged in a May 2020 federal lawsuit filed by two other students.

DALLAS — Southwest Airlines executives on Thursday outlined for Wall Street their vision to boost profits: extra legroom seats starting in 2026, assigned seating, international partnerships and overnight flights. Southwest’s new plan comes as its leaders seeks to fend off activist Elliott Investment Management, which has called for leadership changes. He had served as CEO of AirTran, the airline Southwest combined with in 2011, and was a consultant to Southwest after the merger. Southwest has supported Jordan despite calls for his replacement by Elliott, which didn’t immediately respond to the airline’s plan it laid out on Thursday. He called Southwest’s plan intentional and detailed.

Dubai, UAE CNN —It’s 3am at the VIP airport terminal of Dubai’s Mohammed Bin Rashid Aerospace Hub and an ultra-long range aircraft is readying for take-off. The luxury, 14-seat private jet is headed for Europe, just as soon as its main passenger and his entourage arrive. It’s an elite club that enjoys private jet travel, which can cost anywhere from $50,000 to $200,000-plus for a single leg. Mouallem said the private aviation industry was accustomed to “different kinds of shifts across the world with banning private aviation,” insisting that the focus should be not on banning flights but ensuring greater adoption of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). So that’s really an operator decision and a supplier decision,” Avetkiyan said, adding that her customers shouldn’t feel guilty about the environmental impact of private aviation.

Southwest AirlinesSouthwest has already announced an improved cabin with tablet holders, charging ports, upgraded overhead bins, and better WiFi. The cabin improvements come as Southwest plans to cut some short-haul flying in favor of more lucrative long-haul operations. Southwest left four airports altogether in August: Bellingham International Airport in Washington, Mexico's Cozumel International Airport, Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport, and Syracuse Hancock International Airport in New York. DALLAS — Southwest Airlines raised its third-quarter revenue forecast on Thursday, announced its board authorized $2.5 billion in share buybacks and detailed a host of changes to its business model as it seeks to fend off activist Elliott Investment Management. Southwest executives are presenting their vision for the company's future at the airline's Dallas headquarters on Thursday in an investor day presentation. Southwest executives will try to convince investors that it is on the right track to boost profits and increase revenue. A day earlier, Southwest told staff it will slash its service in Atlanta next year and could cut more than 300 flight attendants and pilots from the city in an effort to reduce costs. Elliott later told Southwest mechanics' union that it still wanted a leadership change at the top of the carrier.
