Kaling shared the happy news on Monday, which was also her 45th birthday, writing on her Instagram page that she gave birth to a baby girl named Anne in February. “She’s the best birthday present I could’ve ever imagined,” Kaling wrote in the caption. Kaling’s announcement came as a surprise, as the “Mindy Project” actor had not previously announced that she was expecting. In March, Kaling said in an interview with Today that her two eldest children have already developed a close relationship.

Jordan Bardella, the president of France’s far-right National Rally, insisted at a news conference on Monday that he would be a prime minister for all French people if his party won the country’s upcoming snap elections, even as he defended his party’s proposal to bar French citizens with dual nationalities from certain “sensitive” jobs. Mr. Bardella spent much of the event focusing on his priorities should he become prime minister — drastically reducing immigration, toughening sentences for those convicted of certain crimes and lowering energy prices — if his nationalist party won a snap election for France’s lower house of Parliament. The election was called this month by President Emmanuel Macron and is being held in two rounds, on June 30 and July 7. “We are ready,” Mr. Bardella told journalists at a marble-adorned venue in a plush neighborhood of Paris, as he sought to dispel criticism from Mr. Macron and from a new alliance of left-wing parties that the National Rally is unfit and unworthy to govern. London CNN —London’s stock market has edged ahead of its rival in Paris as fears grow over the outcome of France’s looming parliamentary elections. The first round of the French elections is scheduled for June 30, followed by a second round on July 7. Hubert de Barochez, a senior market economist at consultancy Capital Economics, said investors might be concerned that a parliament run by the National Rally would penalize banks. In contrast with the political and financial turmoil in France, UK financial markets are “relatively stable,” said Rudolph at IG Group. Credit ratings agencies are already keeping a close eye on France, one of the EU’s three most-indebted countries.

Nvidia , long known in the niche gaming community for its graphics chips, is now the most valuable public company in the world. Shares of the chipmaker climbed 3.2% in mid-day trading on Tuesday, lifting the company's market cap to $3.33 trillion, surpassing Microsoft . Earlier this month, Nvidia hit a $3 trillion market cap for the first time, and passed Apple . Founded in 1991, Nvidia spent its first few decades primarily as a hardware company that sold chips for gamers to run 3D titles. Nvidia is a newcomer to the title of most valuable U.S. company.

AdvertisementResearchers found that 65% of older New Yorkers surveyed are living on $15,000 a year or less. Another gleaning insight from the study is the mental health concern among New York City's aging population. Forty-five percent of survey respondents said they do not have friends or family who can provide them with at least one meal a day. In fact, 41% of survey respondents said they're only sometimes or never able to grocery shop, and 15% said they're not able to cook for themselves, citing physical and mental difficulties.

French stocks are likely to take a further beating from political risk in the weeks and months ahead, but the impact will be focused in certain areas, according to strategists at Goldman Sachs. Along with an equity sell-off, borrowing costs climbed and the spread between French and German 10-year bond yields widened by 25 basis points. Goldman strategists expect that spread to remain wide in the coming weeks. "This would likely maintain the pressure on French domestic stocks, especially Banks, which are highly sensitive to sovereign spreads," Goldman strategists said in a research note published Friday. French domestic big names include supermarket chain Carrefour , construction firm Vinci and utility Engie , while its internationally oriented juggernauts include the likes of LVMH , L'Oreal and Remy Cointreau .
