The Federal Reserve is widely expected to start cutting interest rates Wednesday afternoon. Those yields are expected to start coming down sharply as the Fed begins to ease back on generationally high rates. Adding some duration Duration refers to a bond's price sensitivity to changes in interest rates. A bond yield moves inversely to its price, so that when bond prices rise, yields decline. Though investors in the space may be concerned about prepayment risk, especially as interest rates come down and homeowners look to refinance, Cetera says that worry may already be priced in.

Faster delivery is prompting more and more people to turn to Amazon to buy paper towels and other everyday items. The growing prevalence of one- and same-day delivery has made Amazon a much more convenient to place to shop for everyday essentials. "If people buy everyday essentials on Amazon, they're more likely to buy other products too," said Jeff Marks, the Club's director of portfolio analysis. This added convenience in ordering everyday essentials from Amazon comes at a challenging time for physical retailers known for selling those same products. The company likes "to be in the consideration set for consumers" in the everyday essentials since it helps drive market share gains, Olsavsky said.

By extension, the move in Washington, D.C. could also spell good news for Chinese stocks. High U.S. interest rates relative to China have made it fairly straightforward for global institutions to pick U.S. Treasurys over Chinese stocks. More than lower rates needed Other global investors say Chinese stocks need more than easier monetary policy to become truly attractive. The "government can push interest rates down, but if households don't want to spend the extra income, it won't go into the economy," he said. Boeing workers went on strike Friday, the latest disturbance in what has proven a devastating year for the American aircraft manufacturer. Southwest had sharply brought down its delivery target for Boeing aircraft earlier this year. A United spokesperson said the carrier was working with Boeing to understand what the impact to the airline's delivery schedule might be. "There will probably be very little direct impact on consumers as a result of the Boeing strike," Harteveldt told NBC News. The previous Boeing machinists strike, in 2008, lasted nearly two months; however, in a note to clients, Bank of America analyst Ronald Epstein said the latest one could prove as short as a week.

CNBC's Jim Cramer on Friday guided investors through next week's top Wall Street action, highlighting a long-awaited interest rate decision from the Federal Reserve and earnings from restaurant chain companies Darden and Cracker Barrel. Investors are broadly expecting the central bank to issue a rate cut but are unsure whether it will be by 25 or 50 basis points. Cramer said he's betting on the former, saying he thinks the Fed should be measured when making cuts and not risk an inflation flareup. He added that he thinks the stock is a bargain, but cautioned that Wall Street tends to sell stocks from that sector when the Fed cuts rates. On Thursday, Olive Garden-parent Darden , Cracker Barrel and FedEx are set to report.

We started buying Home Depot shares last week as a play on housing and interest rates. Our Home Depot investment thesis is all about a pickup in housing turnover, the main driver of the home improvement retailer's sales. When rates went below 6.5% toward the end of last year, he explained, there was an immediate increase in housing activity, mortgage applications, and mortgage refinance applications. Mortgage rates with a 5% handle could be on the horizon, at least that's what Toll Brothers CEO Doug Yearley thinks.
