Din cauza dimensiunilor acestuia, care făceau imposibilă orice privatizare, în 1995 s-au format două societăţi: SC MDF Sebeş SA, care cuprindea fosta fabrică PFL şi SC Mobis SA Sebeş cu restul fabricilor. În noiembrie 1997, SC MDF Sebeş SA a fost vândută concernului italian Frati, companie care a fost achiziţionată ulterior de SC Kronospan. SC Mobis Sebeş producea şi comercializa mobilier şi semifabricate din lemn.
