If you've followed any celebrity divorce in the last 30 years, you've probably caught a glimpse of Laura Wasser's career. Wasser, a divorce attorney at Wasser, Cooperman & Mandles and the chief of evolution at Divorce.com, has represented Kim Kardashian, Britney Spears and Ariana Grande. Celebrity divorces aren't all that different from civilian divorces, she says. The most common reason people choose to dissolve their union, famous or not, is also the same. "The reason people get divorced is because they don't communicate," Wasser says.

The first city hotel from a company better known for its beach resort and spas, Six Senses Rome opened last spring in a historic palazzo on Piazza San Marcello, a short walk from the Pantheon. The Spanish architect Patricia Urquiola oversaw the design, keeping the graceful lines of the original structure while transforming it into a light-drenched contemporary retreat. She housed the reception and lobby bar in a glass-topped atrium, filling the space with giant potted plants. In one section of the lobby, glass flooring reveals a glimpse of an ancient subterranean baptismal pool that belongs to the neighboring church. Then there’s the spa, in many ways the centerpiece of the hotel.

DETROIT (AP) — A couple of blocks from the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, Electrify America is about to open an indoor charging station that lets drivers relax in a lounge while their electric vehicle batteries are being filled up. On Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles, Tesla is building a combination drive-in restaurant, movie theater and charging station. Several convenience store chains have set up charging stations outside their businesses and offer food, restrooms and 24-hour service for EV owners. He said he doesn't necessarily think charging stations with more amenities will become a big attraction for most EV owners. Sometimes, businesses near charging stations are closed, and there's no place to go while charging.

These findings, published Monday in the journal Nature Climate Change, are alarming but also controversial. Other scientists say the study contains too many uncertainties and limitations to draw such firm conclusions and could end up confusing public understanding of climate change. Researchers say the results also suggest global temperature could overshoot 2 degrees of warming by the end of the decade. Changing that baseline would mean the world has already warmed at least 1.7 degrees (scientists say long-term global warming currently stands at between 1.2 to 1.3 degrees). Whatever the baseline for measuring global warming, what remains clear, experts say, is that the impacts will worsen with every fraction of a degree of warming.

Since then, Fenley has returned to working quietly on new material, building on her nearly 50 years of making dances as the founder of Molissa Fenley and Company. Opening night, on Wednesday, felt like a private glimpse into her choreographic mind: no splashes, just a steady, rigorous exploration of movement to music. The program’s greatest force is Fenley herself, who, at 69, dances with a searing clarity and equanimity, no matter the limitations that naturally come with age. This is not one of those shows in which a veteran artist makes a cameo to be momentarily revered. The recurring themes are the lines and curves of Fenley’s limpid movement vocabulary, based in ballet and reminiscent of the Merce Cunningham technique, but developed, as she has said, around the idiosyncrasies of her own body.

New York CNN —Unexpected demand for Subway’s new footlong cookies has created a big cookie shortage, driving the new snack off the menu less than two weeks after its big debut. Because of the cookie’s surprising popularity, Subway has temporarily removed them from its app and third-party channels, like DoorDash, to manage demand. Subway also said that for the first time since 2016, it has added more restaurants than it lost. In the past few years under Chidsey’s purview, Subway chain has undergone a makeover in basically all aspects of its business, because it has struggled recently against its sub-slinging competition. However, some franchisees recently complained that they weren’t impressed with the new $6,000 slicers.

Hong Kong CNN —Hong Kong on Tuesday formally began the process of enacting a controversial homegrown national security law in a move that could have deep ramifications for the city’s status as a global financial hub. Beijing’s national security crackdown of recent years has transformed once-freewheeling Hong Kong, silencing almost all dissent and jailing dozens of political opponents. Under Hong Kong’s mini-constitution agreed by the two powers, the city is required to enact laws to prohibit acts that endanger national security. “Foreign agents and Hong Kong independence ideas are still lurking in Hong Kong society.”Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee speaks during a press conference at government headquarters in Hong Kong on January 30, 2024.
