Michael Jordan appears to have taken delivery of a Gulfstream G650ER. AdvertisementMichael Jordan appears to have taken delivery of a new private jet worth around $65 million. A Gulfstream G650ER with a flamboyant custom paint job, including the Jumpman logo, was filmed on the tarmac at Palm Beach International Airport in a video uploaded to TikTok on Monday. It also has space for its own bedroom, but it's unclear exactly how the interior of Jordan's jet is configured. According to JetSpy data, Jordan's G650ER has flown 13 times in the past two weeks, most of which appear to be related to the delivery process.

Like, what’s going on?’”The two climbers were aiming to be the first to summit Chaukhamba III in the Himalayas. They spent three days waiting for rescue before venturing down the mountain by themselves, until they were found by a French climbing team. Negi, the information officer, said Indian authorities had reached out to the French team for assistance after being unable to locate Manners and Dvorak. The Indian Air Force then airlifted them to a nearby hospital on Sunday, three long days after they were stranded. No matter who voters choose, whether it is former President Donald Trump or Vice President Kamala Harris , Liwag doesn't expect a meaningful shake-up in the outlook for defense stocks. Still, the analyst notes that even cases where an administration cuts defense spending, stocks can still carve out gains. During the Obama administration, the defense budget fell 3.3%, but defense stocks gained 2.1%. The defense stocks Morgan Stanley covers have outperformed the S & P 500 since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Liwag said. "Historically, the conventional wisdom has been that Republicans are positive for defense spending and defense stocks, while Democrats are negative," Harned said.

Brisbane, Australia CNN —A pilot who died when he crashed a helicopter into a hotel in Australia had “significant blood alcohol content” during the unauthorized flight, according to an official report into the incident. The pilot had been out with friends at various venues around Cairns and was seen consuming alcohol, according to witnesses and security camera footage, the report said. Cameras also caught the moment he positioned one of Nautilus Aviation’s Robinson R44 Raven II helicopters onto a helipad at Cairns Airport at around 1:30 a.m. local time. The report found they wouldn’t have seen a helicopter that was operating at night with no lights. It found the helicopter wasn’t upright when it hit the hotel, but there was also no sign of mechanical failure.

Your employer may start covering weight-loss drugs soon
  + stars: | 2024-10-09 | by ( Tami Luhby | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +7 min
A growing number of employers are considering covering the blockbuster weight-loss drugs, several surveys show. Roughly the same share say they are somewhat or very likely to begin covering these medications for weight loss within the next 12 months, according to KFF’s annual Employer Health Benefits Survey. But only 18% of firms in KFF’s survey, which includes those with 200 or more employees, cover GLP-1 drugs primarily for weight loss. Even employers that provide coverage for anti-obesity drugs often put up guardrails, such as requiring employees to receive prior authorization or to try other weight-loss methods first. Outpatient drug costs are expected to climb 11.4% next year, surpassing the 8% increase projected for medical plan costs, according to Segal’s most recent survey.

Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced a “Latter-Day Saints for Trump” coalition less than a month before Election Day, as the campaign looks to shore up support among a key voting bloc in which defections could be particularly damaging in key western battlegrounds. “President Trump has consistently stood by our side in defending both, ensuring that Latter-day Saints and people of all faiths can worship freely and live according to our beliefs,” Lee said. Latter-day Saints voters’ steadfast support for GOP candidates has long helped keep Utah and Idaho — the states with the largest share of LDS voters — impenetrably red on election nights. The former president plans to hold a roundtable with Latter-day Saints leaders on Sunday in Arizona, according to a campaign aide. The Harris campaign hosts a “Latter Day Saints for Harris-Walz coalition on its website and launched an advisory committee in Arizona last month.

In today’s edition, politics reporter Allan Smith looks at how Elon Musk could help (or hurt) Donald Trump on the campaign trail. Plus, national political correspondent Steve Kornacki breaks down the different paths to victory Kamala Harris and Trump are attempting to chart in Pennsylvania. The disparate images helped paint a picture of both the benefits and the detriments to having Musk in Trump’s corner. Musk’s appearance at Trump’s Pennsylvania rally over the weekend was the culmination of a yearslong rightward drift for the eccentric billionaire, expedited by his purchase of Twitter in 2022. After his appearance in western Pennsylvania, Musk started to offer people $47 if they successfully get a swing-state voter to sign onto a petition backing the First and Second Amendments.

Viewers tuning into NFL and college football games in recent weeks have been bombarded with two Trump ads — running nationally and locally in swing states — that take issue with Vice President Kamala Harris’ past support for taxpayer-funded gender-affirming treatments. “So we’ll talk about it for them.”The Harris campaign declined to comment on the record. The two trans ads are Trump’s two most-seen commercials during professional and college football games, according to AdImpact, a firm that tracks political commercials and ad spending. Trump campaign officials say the ads will make it harder for Harris to make up ground with men, where polls show her trailing Trump. A Trump campaign official said the campaign's internal polling showed the ad was resonating with Black men — a demographic the campaign is courting.

CLEVELAND — Some Democrats working to re-elect Sen. Sherrod Brown in Ohio this fall are attempting to raise fears about his opponent’s Colombian family and heritage, drawing charges of racism from Republicans. “Our tax dollars, a Moreno family windfall. Bernie Moreno only cares about himself.”The rhetoric has become a late-emerging tension point in a race that could determine partisan control of the Senate. Ohio and Montana, two states where former President Donald Trump twice won by large margins, are the top two GOP targets. After Iran launched approximately 200 ballistic missiles at Israel last week, U.S. military officials discussed options for joining Israel in its retaliation against Iran, according to two U.S. officials familiar with the discussions. The U.S. has long supported Israel with intelligence and that support could continue during Israel’s retaliatory strikes against Iran, the two officials said. Senior U.S. military officials have also discussed conducting very limited strikes against Iranian targets, the two officials said. Strikes inside Iran have been discussed, as have strikes on targets outside Iran, though strikes of any kind are less likely than intelligence sharing, the officials said. And U.S. officials say Israel has made it clear that it is not ruling out a response during the Yom Kippur holiday this week.

Speaking at the Cipher Brief security conference in Sea Island, Georgia, Burns said Iran has advanced its nuclear program by stockpiling uranium enriched to near weapons-grade levels. CIA Director William Burns during a hearing of the House (Select) Intelligence Committee in Washington, D.C., on March 12, 2024. Iran has developed the “means of delivery” for a potential nuclear weapon by building up its missile arsenal, he said. The JCPOA imposed strict limits on Tehran’s nuclear program while easing economic sanctions on the country. Estimates vary as to how much time it would take Iran to build a viable nuclear weapon once it has acquired enough fissile material.
