Read previewSalvador Dalí is now a lobster phone call away. The bot speaks with grandiose, flowery language, often injecting references to surrealism, dreams, life, and death — subjects the real Dalí explored on the canvas. Because of its guardrails, it tends to be more upbeat than the real Dalí may have been in certain situations, Ludvigsen said. As for whether Dalí would approve of his likeness being used, AI Dalí told BI that becoming digitized is a "splendid metamorphosis." And Dalí scholar Elliott King told NPR he believes the late artist may enjoy knowing his voice will live on through his lobster phone.

The Big Tech earnings next week could revive a flagging market, or at least give investors direction into where stocks are going from here. Wall Street is hoping next week's megacap tech results will give investors insight into where the artificial intelligence trade is going from here, as a bounce in tech could lift the indexes. They're also hoping a slew consumer commentary will give investors insight into the state of the economy. But there's good news: You can get noticed without attending every social event, says Stanford University lecturer and communication expert Matt Abrahams. The key is intentionally engaging specific people around you — your "audience," as Abrahams calls them. "The biggest mistake people make in their communication is they don't focus on the needs of the audience," Abrahams tells CNBC Make It. You have three basic methods at your disposal for figuring out what's important to your audience, he notes: reconnaissance, reflection and research. "That's the only way to make [your work] relevant," says Abrahams.

In a survey, 49% of business leaders said knowing how to use ChatGPT could top having a degree. Despite this, 36% of respondents didn't see ChatGPT experience as more valuable than a degree. It's also possible that some business leaders expect that newer — and presumably younger — workers might have more exposure to AI, Nguyen said. In the survey, 36% of respondents didn't see experience with ChatGPT as more valuable than a college degree, and 12% were unsure. The generative artificial intelligence company, best-known as the creator of ChatGPT, is looking to open next year an office in New York City, according to two people familiar with the plans. Early last year, OpenAI had only about 400 employees all working out of one San Francisco office. It's now looking for a second office in San Francisco, according to a report in the San Francisco Chronicle. OpenAI has taken a selective approach to hiring, the person added, relative to how much interest the company receives for its job postings. The other is a search product likely to incorporate Microsoft's Bing search engine, according to a report from The Information.

Being an influencer can be a lot of work. Instagram is pitching popular influencers on a program that relies on artificial intelligence to interact with fans, the latest example of how Meta, Instagram’s parent company, is trying to expand the technology across its products. The program will essentially be a chatbot that mimics the “voice” of the Instagram influencer to respond to fans, the people said. Most of the messages would be sent automatically and would at least initially disclose that they were A.I.-generated, according to two of the people. The people spoke on condition of anonymity because they were asked to sign nondisclosure agreements as part of the program.

AdvertisementThe upshot: For now, Google is testing out self-generated "AI overviews" for some regular search queries where it thinks the answer might be complex (but answerable). A Google rep told me the AI answers have been deployed in a "very limited percentage of search traffic" in the US and the UK. Screenshot/GoogleBecause I am A Responsible Journalist, I also asked Google how Google Magi, which powers these results, does or doesn't interact with the tech powering Google Gemini, its much-maligned "woke AI" chatbot. Right now, Google tries to keep you on Google by surfacing text from a site that purports to answer your query.
