AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Five races into NASCAR's 2024 season and Ford is in a funk. A Ford win in Austin would seem like a long shot in NASCAR's fourth run on a track built for Formula One. Recovering from major abdominal surgery — as Kate has been since January — is ghastly, and having to do it so you can be healthy enough for chemotherapy is a humbling one-two punch from the universe. We know that rates of colon cancer diagnoses in particular are going up alarmingly in younger populations. I was 45 when I received my diagnosis of stage 3 colon cancer, and, like Kate, underwent major abdominal surgery followed by chemo. As a survivor of a gastrointestinal cancer, whose sufferers face much greater stigma than other types of cancer, I feel this most acutely. Depending on the nature of her abdominal surgery, Kate might have been assigned a short-term or a permanent colostomy bag.

CNN —Last week, I ditched work one day and went to a matinee at a local AMC theater. It was a Timothée Chalamet movie, because statistically of course it was. There are few things this movie nerd loves more than a big, loud sci-fi fantasy epic on an IMAX screen. It’s as if big movie chains are responding to the dire warnings about the death of their industry by deciding they’ll simply force-feed their remaining audience as much monetizable property as possible. Long live the fun movie theater experience, which is totally possible!

He was tied at 6-under 136 with Kevin Streelman (72), tour rookie Chandler Phillips (68), Brendon Todd (69) and Mackenzie Hughes (68). “There's a reason that so many players rave about this course,” Cink said. Only six shots separated the players sharing the lead to the players making the cut on the number. For Spieth, it was the first time since 2017 that he missed the cut at regular PGA Tour events in consecutive weeks (Players Championship, Byron Nelson). “I get another chance to learn some really great lessons and maybe some hard lessons this week again.”___

Let’s say for now that the day comes when robots and artificial intelligence can outperform human beings at every conceivable job, from waxing floors to waxing eyebrows to waxing philosophical at a lectern. “It’s very possible that regular humans will have plentiful, high-paying jobs in the age of A.I. dominance — often doing much the same kind of work that they’re doing right now,” he wrote Sunday on his Substack. I ran Smith’s argument by several economists who think a lot about these issues, and they were skeptical. But there’s so much pessimism around the future of work these days that Smith’s take comes as a welcome ray of sunshine.

All that changed three years ago, when a global chip shortage and rising geopolitical tension turbocharged growth at TSMC. TSMC set up the Newcomer Training Center inside a sprawling science park in the city of Taichung in central Taiwan in 2021. “After many years, what we want to do is to gradually reduce assignees [and] increase the local hires.”The Newcomer Training Center opened in 2021. In today's big story, we're looking at why the economy has most consumers feeling like they are stuck in place . A "trapped in place" economy is in full swing. Bad buying conditions coupled with everyday high prices means consumers can't make any major life changes , writes Business Insider's Emily Stewart. But it's not the only area of the economy that's stuck, Emily writes. So, while consumers lament being stuck in place, they should also avoid getting stuck looking to the past.

If you like your situation right now — your job, your house, your car — you can keep it. The labor market has cooled off somewhat, making it less advantageous to hunt for a new job. The car market is in a similar situation. Employers are hiring as if there's a relatively weak labor market, not a strong one. CNN —The foundation that selected SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, conservative media mogul Rupert Murdoch and other honorees as recipients of an award named after Ruth Bader Ginsburg announced Monday it is canceling its award ceremony after receiving pushback from the late justice’s family. The slate of this year’s honorees for the foundation’s “RBG Leadership” award, formerly the “Ruth Bader Ginsburg Women in Leadership” award, was announced last week and also included lifestyle icon Martha Stewart, actor Sylvester Stallone and financier Michael Milken. Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a longtime liberal member of the high court who died at age 87 in 2020, consistently delivered progressive votes on major social issues, including abortion rights, same-sex marriage and immigration. It is not interested in generating a debate about whether particular honorees are worthy or not,” she said. Indeed, Justice Ginsburg was known for her civility.”

Read previewThe AI community assumes that OpenAI uses vast quantities of YouTube videos to train models, including its new Sora offering. The mystery is how OpenAI accesses enough YouTube content to make this work. Business Insider asked OpenAI whether it has downloaded YouTube videos at scale and whether the startup uses this content as data for AI model training. Google, OpenAI, and other tech companies are currently arguing that using copyrighted content for AI model training is also legal. And when pressed again about sources of training data, Murati replied, "I'm not going to go into the details."

Kristen Stewart Uses Naked Dressing to Make a Point

Even in the context of the current pantsless trend prevalent on the runway and in some celebrity circles, as well as the vogue for thematic dressing at movie openings, Kristen Stewart’s looks during her press tour for “Love Lies Bleeding” have stood out. Rarely has an actress been so unapologetically, gloriously undressed. That’s a lot of subtext under very little — clothing, that is. Margot Robbie had fun dressing à la Barbie during her “Barbie” press tour; Zendaya captured eyeballs and social media during her “Dune: Part Two” camera calls dressed in sci-fi-themed Mugler, Givenchy and Alaïa; and the cast of “Godzilla Minus One” walked the Oscar red carpet in matching lizard-heel footwear. But with her “Love Lies Bleeding” appearances, Ms. Stewart took the concept of character cosplay to a new, more pointed level.

The other day, a friend of mine liked one of my LinkedIn posts. AdvertisementWhy LinkedIn feels so cringeAs much as LinkedIn is a professional platform, something about it feels really personal. There's a reason social-media accounts like Best of LinkedIn, which pokes fun at over-the-top LinkedIn posts, exist. Given the weakness of the official advice, I decided to ask a bunch of people for tips on how to post in a non-cringe way on LinkedIn. I also asked a pair of social-media managers — one at Business Insider and one at a different company — for their thoughts on LinkedIn posting.

Opinion: Trump gives Biden one big lift

Former President Donald Trump’s favorability ratings are only slightly better. The bipartisan legislation to control the flow of migrants across the southern border was blown up by opposition from Trump. One thing that is going right for Biden is Trump himself. “I want to vote for Donald Trump in November, wrote Marc A. Thiessen in the Washington Post. … Just like office holders have released their tax returns (up until former President Donald Trump), I would like to see more candidates release their physical and mental health assessments,” Schurman observed.
