CNN —After a man wrongfully spent 37 years in prison for rape and murder, the Tampa City Council unanimously voted Thursday to approve a $14 million settlement in a federal lawsuit. Robert DuBoise, who was convicted of the August 1983 rape and murder of 19-year-old Barbara Grams in Tampa Heights, was exonerated in September 2020 after DNA evidence established that he did not commit the crimes. That made him the 30th person exonerated from Florida’s death row, according to the Innocence Project of Florida, which assisted with DuBoise’s case. CNN has reached out to the Innocence Project of Florida for comment on the settlement. During the city council meeting, council member Charlie Miranda commented on what DuBoise has lost through the wrongful conviction.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Victor Wembanyama’s first NBA All-Star experience will be hectic, just like everything else has seemed so far in his rookie season with the San Antonio Spurs. A 45-year-old Kansas man has been charged in the theft of a life-size bronze statue of the baseball legend Jackie Robinson from a park in Wichita, Kan. The police in Wichita said on Tuesday that the motive for the crime was probably to sell the statue for scrap metal. The man, Ricky Alderete, was charged on Monday with felony theft, aggravated criminal damage to property and making false information, the police said. “The investigation has not revealed any evidence indicating this was a hate-motivated crime,” Lieutenant Moses said. “Instead, we believe this theft was motivated by the financial gain of scrapping common metal.”

Yearwood's dip took a surprisingly long time to make. I simmered the chicken in hot sauce for about an hour, but after trying a piece, I didn't think this gave the meat that much flavor. Stocks with a 14-day RSI greater than 70 are considered overbought, meaning they could be at risk of a pullback. As that optimism dims, some investors worry that the decline in transportation stocks suggests rough times ahead for the economy. ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — A former Atlantic City councilman who went to prison for bribery and a sex blackmail case is facing charges again. Craig Callaway, 64, is a sought-after political organizer and operative in and around Atlantic City, known for his ability to deliver large blocks of absentee ballots to election officials that often sway the outcome of elections. But he was arrested Thursday and charged with election fraud involving the misuse of absentee ballots — something of which his political foes had long accused him. Instead, Robinson went to the authorities, who filed charges that led to a three-year state prison term for Callaway. The election fraud charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
