Federal and state wildlife managers confirmed Thursday that the endangered female wolf has traveled north of Interstate 40 and beyond a recovery zone that spans parts of southwestern New Mexico and southeastern Arizona. Both state and federal wildlife managers said they were monitoring the wolf’s movements and have yet to decide whether it will be captured again and relocated. Fish and Wildlife Service to remove all Mexican wolves north of Interstate 40, even in cases where the wolf causes no inconvenience or loss. Fish and Wildlife Service show there were at least 241 Mexican wolves roaming the southwestern U.S., marking the seventh straight year that the numbers have trended upward. Federal wildlife managers also documented more breeding pairs and pups last winter than in any year since reintroduction efforts began more than two decades ago.

A former IDF intelligence chief harshly criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Retired Maj. Gen. Amos Malka told an Israeli radio station that Netanyahu only looks out for himself. Netanyahu "is not focused on the management of the fighting, but on survival," Malka said. AdvertisementAdvertisementA 30-year veteran of the Israel Defense Forces — and former head of the country's military intelligence unit — accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of caring more about his own political "survival" than the actual war he's waging in Gaza. If he has time to worry about that, Malka charged, "I can see that he is not focused on managing the war, but on survival."

There are plenty of terms to describe Wall Street power brokers — but none of them matters quite so much right now as the simple phrase "managing director." Wealth management, which has been an area for growth across Wall Street, may prove an exception. "Two years ago, everybody was in the war for talent," said Alan Johnson, a Wall Street compensation expert at Johnson & Associates. Getting a promotion to managing director is tremendously important for the people who are vying for the role. "Once you become an MD, you're going to be making a lot more money.

U.S. officials visiting South Africa this week to meet African trade ministers will face calls to reauthorise the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) which expires in 2025. Apparel companies and industry insiders warn that Africa risks a once-in-a-generation shift away from Chinese manufacturing passing it by, with an estimated 240,000 to 290,000 jobs such as Nasimiyu's under threat. Apparel has been the standout success story of AGOA, which launched in 2000 to help develop African economies and foster democracy. African apparel exports under the programme reached nearly $1.4 billion last year, double the amount pre-AGOA. "We've been struck by how open the opportunity is now for us," South African Trade Minister Ebrahim Patel said last week.

Orsted, the world's largest offshore wind developer, said it would stop developing its 2,248-megawatt (MW) Ocean Wind 1 and 2 projects in New Jersey. The offshore wind industry has found itself in a perfect storm of rising inflation, interest rate hikes and supply chain delays. Norway's Equinor (EQNR.OL), BP's partner on those New York offshore wind developments, booked a $300 million impairment on the projects on Friday. Orsted, which in June announced plans to invest 475 billion crowns by 2030, said it was in the process of reviewing its investments and could introduce cost-saving initiatives. Orsted's share price has tumbled 52% since an August profit warning, cutting its market value to 112 billion crowns from 235 billion.

Palestinian tech workers in the Gaza Strip and West Bank are struggling to operate in the crossfire. This affects remote workers, freelancers, tech workers, and students who "won't be able to pursue their duties," Shtaya added. It was already difficult to import hardware and other equipment, the West Bank consultant said. Nvidia hired 100 engineers in the West Bank, and Apple also has a presence, TechCrunch reported.

Then tomorrow comes the big decision on interest rates. That’s because the central bank is widely expected to hold interest rates steady for the second meeting in a row. And in many economists’ view the third-quarter GDP report shows the economy isn’t growing at a sustainable pace. Some FAQsQ: If the economy is growing too fast, why isn’t the Fed doing something about it? Bond yields, namely the yield on the 10-year Treasury note, dictate the interest rates on credit cards, mortgages and auto loans.

Biden's disapproval ratings did not surpass his approval ratings until he withdrew from Afghanistan. Similarly, Democrats have increasingly disapproved of Biden since Hamas attacked Israel. Month after month, an average of his national approval ratings stayed double digits above his disapproval ratings. That is, until the US began its process of completely withdrawing its military forces from Afghanistan, coinciding with Biden's approval ratings consistently declining in that same period of time. A recent YouGov survey offers a clue as to why Biden's approval rating amongst Democrats is falling.

Johnson, who played a leading role in the effort to block the certification of President Joe Biden’s 2020 election win, benefited in his ascent to the speakership last week from the approval of pro-Trump lawmakers. His tortured explanations of his constitutionality correct decision – that he lacked power to overturn Biden’s 2020 election win in Congress – failed to convince grassroots Republicans bought into the ex-president’s false claims that he won the election. An alternative lesson that the ex-president’s rivals might draw is that forceful condemnations of Trump’s 2020 election denialism are likely to be fatal to their campaigns. There was evidence last week that Johnson’s maneuvering after the 2020 election helped secure his rise to the speakership. Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, for example, said that Emmer’s vote to certify the 2020 election “played a big role” in her vote against him.

While executive stock sales — such as Dimon's planned transactions next year — are not universally red flags, they can get complicated. Insider stock sales Executive stock trades are usually disclosed through SEC filings known as Form 4 documents and accessible through the regulator's EDGAR database — the electronic data gathering, analysis, and retrieval system. Rule 10b5-1 trading plans came into the fold just over two decades ago to reconcile these two discordant facts. Adopting Rule 10b5-1 trading plans gives public-company executives a way to protect against allegations of illegal insider trading in the future. Compared with a tiny stock sale executed through a predetermined plan, executive stock buys generally send a much stronger signal: The executive wants to make money, too.

JOURNEY STARTSIron-flow batteries were developed decades ago but have yet to be deployed as a grid-scale energy storage solution. ESI Managing Director Stuart Parry believes iron-flow batteries are an idea whose "time has come." Parry doesn't see iron-flow batteries replacing lithium-ion units, rather they are complementary with lithium batteries able to arbitrage power prices by acting rapidly, while iron-flow units are more likely to act as baseload firming for the grid when renewables tail off. Parry also says iron-flow batteries work out about a third cheaper than lithium ion units when looking at the cost on a MWh basis. On the surface, iron-flow batteries seem like a solid solution to how to run an electricity grid dominated by variable renewables.

REUTERS/Dado Ruvic/Illustration/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsLONDON, Oct 25 (Reuters) - Britain's data watchdog said on Wednesday that former NatWest CEO Alison Rose infringed Nigel Farage's data rights when she discussed the former Brexit party leader's relationship with the bank with a BBC journalist. "We fully co-operate with the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office) in its assessment of any customer complaint but it would not be appropriate for us to comment on this individual case," a NatWest spokesperson said. The ICO said in its response to Farage's complaint about the incident, seen by Reuters, that in its view Rose shared "misleading information" and that Farage's rights were infringed as a result. Farage welcomed the response and said NatWest should cut Rose's notice pay and bonuses. "It would be an outrage if she walked away with a huge sum of money," Farage said on television channel GB News.

This was a notable dynamic in the spending fight that led to the toppling of Speaker McCarthy. There’s no dealing with the likes of Mr. Gaetz because he’s operating on a different dimension from someone like Mr. McCarthy, a pragmatist and coalition-builder who is trying to move the ball incrementally. It’s the difference between politics as theater and politics as the art of the possible; politics as individual brand-building and politics as team sport. In the last Congress, Nancy Pelosi had a slim majority like Mr. McCarthy and a restive handful of members on her left flank, the so-called Squad. It is instructive to contrast her not just with Mr. McCarthy, but with the Senate minority leader, Mitch McConnell.

CNN —Winning a majority party’s nomination for speaker of the House of Representatives usually elevates a lawmaker into the pantheon of American political leaders. But this is about more than the plight of a Republican Party that often looks like it’s tearing itself apart. If the dysfunctional House GOP majority cannot get its act together, the US government could run out of funding before Thanksgiving week – and millions of Americans could pay the price. As former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, himself a notoriously polarizing figure, said on Fox News this weekend: “They got big decisions coming down the road. We don’t have someone who is the speaker of the House to negotiate with the White House, with Senate Democrats who are in the majority.

The uprising that began nearly three weeks ago with the toppling of Speaker Kevin McCarthy has now weakened three of the most powerful figures in the House GOP. Twisting colored squares together in the right order seems simple by comparison with attempts to unite a House Republican conference unable to comprehend how clownish it looks. “We need (a speaker) because the House can’t do anything without a speaker,” Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky said on CBS’ “Face the Nation” Sunday. “This is probably one of the most embarrassing things I’ve seen because if we don’t have a speaker of the House, we can’t govern. “This is embarrassing for the Republican Party.
