On Black Friday, the day after the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, many retailers slash prices to boost sales. More than 1,000 workers at Amazon's warehouse in Coventry, England, will strike on Friday, according to trade union GMB, as part of a long-running dispute over pay. Many Amazon shoppers use its lockers, which are located in train stations, supermarket car parks, and street corners, to receive their orders. Attac, which calls Black Friday a "celebration of overproduction and overconsumption", said it expects the protest to be wider than last year, when it estimates 100 Amazon lockers across France were targeted. MADRID (Reuters) - Spain's Catholic Church said on Friday it would compensate victims of sexual abuse even in cases that have not been concluded because the offending priest has died, representing a shift from its previous position. And if that moral conclusion is reached, then there will be that moral reparation," Garcia Magan added after announcing that Spanish bishops had unanimously approved an "integral plan" to compensate victims. The Church had until now refused to compensate victims in cases where the abuser had died, a frequent occurrence. It follows other sexual abuse scandals involving the Catholic Church in a number of countries including the United States, Ireland and France. The ombudsman's report also criticised the Church for not cooperating fully with the investigation and for seeking to "minimise the phenomenon".

Customers complained on social media about failed ATM withdrawals and credit card payments on Nov. 18. "A technical incident has occurred which has caused temporary instability in the system responsible for processing payment transactions. The central bank is looking into both incidents, which come as European Central Bank (ECB) data shows cash payments in Spain fell by 18% between 2019 and 2022, a figure only surpassed in the euro zone by Cyprus, where transactions fell 23%. Redsys competes with another payment provider in Spain, which belongs to Cecabank and holds a market share of about 15%.

Google Spain blocked Jota's YouTube channel "Último Bastión" (Last Stronghold) from earning advertising revenue in August. He said they had called on the court to classify Jota and YouTube's a labour relationship and his effective dismissal as "wrongful". Garcia and the union would not comment on the reasons for advertising revenue to his channel being cut. Google says that content creators are not employees and that in this particular case Jota's channel did not comply with YouTube monetisation policies.

The man, a Spanish national, was under police surveillance for several days before his arrest, El Confidencial reported, citing sources close to the investigation. The 78-year-old conservative politician survived the attack as the bullet passed through his jaw but he is reportedly still in hospital. Vidal-Quadras is former head of the centre-right People's Party (PP) in Catalonia and a founder of Spain's far-right Vox party. He has been a staunch ally of the Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, which blamed the Iranian regime for the attack.

LONDON, Nov 21 (Reuters) - Deutsche Boerse's (DB1Gn.DE) derivatives arm said on Tuesday that it has been building up volume in its Euribor futures contract in Frankfurt as the European Union vies with London for the multi-billion-euro market post Brexit. The EU wants to significantly relocate the clearing of Euribor futures and euro-denominated interest rate swaps (IRS) out of London, which is now largely cut off from the bloc's financial market and rules since its 2020 exit from the EU. The market had previously been dominated by U.S. rival ICE (ICE.N), with its operations based in London. It is likely that in the initial phase there will be no mandatory minimum clearing volume set for an account, but this could change if not enough clearing shifts. London Stock Exchange Group's (LSEG.L) LCH dominates clearing of euro IRS, a market in which Eurex is also slowly building up clearing volume, and which is being targeted by the Madrid Exchange too.

BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Global pop star Shakira has been summoned Monday to a Barcelona courthouse to attend the first day of her trial for allegedly defrauding Spanish tax officials of millions of euros. Shakira, 46, faces six counts of failing to pay the Spanish government 14.5 million euros (about $15.8 million) in taxes between 2012 and 2014. In a separate investigation, Spanish state prosecutors charged Shakira in September for her alleged evasion of 6.7 million euros in tax on her 2018 income. They accused her of using an offshore company based in a tax haven to avoid paying the tax. Shakira, whose full name is Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, has two children, Milan and Sasha, with Barcelona soccer star Gerard Pique.

One-litre bottles of extra-virgin olive oil are selling for as much as 14.5 euros ($15.77) in some supermarkets, propelling olive oil into the category of products retailers fit with security tags, alongside spirits, cosmetics and appliances. "Olive oil has become an ideal product for them to steal." STC, a Spanish company providing anti-theft solutions to retailers, saw a 12-fold increase in orders this summer from supermarkets for devices to protect olive oil bottles, managing partner Salvador Canones told Reuters. Spanish police have also uncovered thefts of olive oil from mills and in October arrested two people as part of an investigation into the theft of 56 tonnes of extra virgin olive oil. Among the world's biggest consumers of olive oil, they have already significantly cut back: sales volumes of extra-virgin olive oil fell by 17% in the 12 months to September, according to NielsenIQ.

About 1,500 people took part in the demonstration, the 16th consecutive protest outside the Socialists' headquarters. El Confidencial, a Spanish news site, reported on Sunday that the officer had a private weapon that was not a pistol used for military purposes. The independence referendum was declared illegal by the courts and resulted in Spain's worst political crisis for decades. Sanchez has defended the law saying an amnesty would help to defuse tensions in Catalonia.

The amnesty will cover about 400 people involved in the independence bid that came to a head in 2017, including separatists but also police involved in clashes with activists. The independence referendum was declared illegal by the courts and resulted in Spain's worst political crisis for decades. The amnesty will be the largest in Spain since the 1977 blanket amnesty for crimes committed during the Francisco Franco dictatorship, and the first amnesty law approved in the European Union since 1991, according to Spain's CSIC research council. Protesters, including neo-Nazi groups, have held rowdy demonstrations outside the Socialist headquarters in Madrid for 15 nights consecutively since the deal was announced. In a survey by Metroscopia in mid-September, around 70% of respondents - 59% of them Socialist supporters – said they were against the idea of an amnesty.
