Samsung employs under 2,000 workers at its Sriperumbudur plant near the city of Chennai which makes refrigerators and washing machines. The strike comes after Samsung Electronics' biggest union in South Korea held a four-day strike in August demanding higher wages and bonuses after talks with management fell through. Hundreds of workers at a Samsung Electronics plant in southern India have begun an indefinite strike to demand higher wages, partly hitting production on Monday, a union leader told Reuters. E. Muthukumar, who heads the Samsung India union, said many people dressed in company uniform sat outside the plant and demanded a wage hike and better working hours. A Samsung India spokesperson said in an email the company actively engages with "workers to address any grievances they may have and comply with all laws and regulations".

The tech slide has many investors anxious to buy the dip, but now is the time for caution, some say. Communication services and information technology stocks are the two worst-performing S & P 500 sectors this quarter, after having fallen into a correction from their peaks in July. Communication services is more than 11% off its 52-week high, while information technology is more than 12% off its recent high. For much of this year, any dips in the high-flying tech stocks have proven to be a buying opportunity for investors, as the promise of artificial intelligence has traders unable to stay away from these names for long. Investors were buying the dip again midday through the trading session Tuesday.

Lime, Dott and Tier were the companies selected to offer e-scooter rental in Madrid, with permits granted for 2,000 scooters each. The council’s decision means “rental scooters will disappear from the city from October,” it said. From the moment Paul Graham dropped his essay on "founder mode," people online analyzed it like a stone tablet found bearing the new commandment of startupdom. But there's one group that has been privately wrestling with "founder mode" since before it had a meme-able name: female founders. Four female founders told Business Insider that a stark double standard prevents them from operating their startups as their male counterparts do. Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd wrote on Instagram that she was "in founder mode for 10 years and got attacked for it every single day." Volcanoes were still erupting on the moon during Earth’s dinosaur age, new research suggests, much more recently than previously believed. Earlier analysis of samples brought back by the Chang’e-5 lunar mission had concluded that volcanic activity stopped about 2 billion years ago, updating previous assessments that there had been no active lunar volcanoes for about 4 billion years. The research team behind the study was “surprised and excited” by the “unexpected” discovery. However, it’s still “unclear” how the moon could have remained volcanically active for so long, the paper said. In June, China became the first country to retrieve rocks from the far side of the moon with its Chang’e-6 mission.

Leeds' allegations weren't part of Carroll's accusations, but the trial judge allowed her testimony because they demonstrated what Carroll's lawyers argued was a pattern of behavior by Trump. The judge who oversaw the trial later said: "Trump 'raped' her as many people commonly understand the word 'rape.'" In the May 2023 verdict, the jury found Trump liable for sexual abuse and defamation and awarded Carroll $5 million in damages. In the second trial, earlier this year, a separate jury said Trump owed Carroll an additional $83 million in defamation damages.
