More people are moving into disaster-prone areas than moving out, Redfin reported. Almost half of recently moved Americans think climate risks may impact home prices. The figure for areas at risk of wildfires was 446,000, up 51%, and areas vulnerable to extreme heat saw 629,000 more people come in than leave, a 17% rise. Such regions have ample housing availability, but are more exposed to dangers such as hurricanes and wildfires. According to a previous report that also observed the migration trend to disaster-prone areas, climate-fueled risks are expected to tick up, forcing further movement.

This includes not only Lyme, but other tick-borne infections that used to be rare, like babesiosis. “We basically have tick-borne diseases almost everywhere,” in the United States, Dr. Pritt said. Lynley Smith, 43, knew about the heightened risk of Lyme disease in Maine when she vacationed with her family there last summer. Over the next few days, Ms. Smith felt progressively worse. On the seventh day of her symptoms, Ms. Smith noticed a large, round rash on the right side of her torso.

"I think a lot of people in my world and IPO world are expecting this V-shaped recovery for the IPO market." The IPO market had been in the doldrums since February 2022, when Russia's invasion of Ukraine began. It was a small but positive sign for the many tech deals waiting for a better IPO market." Some signs are emerging that the IPO market is starting to thaw out. Ultimately, that's what we need for the IPO market to heat back up," said Daniels.

What you need to know about ticks
  + stars: | 2023-07-22 | by ( Kate Golembiewski | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +8 min
There are more than 800 species of ticks found around the world, and 84 that have been documented in the United States. The most common ones are blacklegged ticks (also known as deer ticks, but they feed on lots of animals besides deer), lone star ticks, American dog ticks and brown dog ticks. Both male and female ticks feed on blood by inserting their barbed, straw-like mouthparts into the skin of their host (unlike mosquitoes, which only bite if they’re females preparing to lay eggs). However, only female ticks drink to the point that they become engorged. Yes, they can be a public health concern, but we don’t want you to let ticks keep you indoors,” she said.

July 21 (Reuters) - Brent oil prices rose in Asian trading on Friday, as markets assessed the prospect of economic stimulus in China after weak economic data, falling inventories in the U.S. and supply cuts from key producers. China's weak economic figures had kept a lid on prices through the week. However, sentiment across commodity markets has picked up on hopes the central government would roll out more stimulus measures to support the economy. Higher crude prices have come "on positive commentary on China stimulus and looked through impacts from the stronger U.S. dollar index," National Australia Bank analysts said in a note. U.S. crude inventories (USOILC=ECI) fell last week, supported by a jump in crude exports as well as higher refinery utilisation, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on Wednesday.

July 20 (Reuters) - Daniel Ricciardo said he was refreshed and ready to go for a Formula One comeback with AlphaTauri at the Hungarian Grand Prix that he hopes will lead to a dream return to dominant champions Red Bull. The eight times grand prix winner has replaced Dutch driver Nyck de Vries at Red Bull's sister team for the rest of the season. "The dream is a Red Bull seat but there is no 'this is what you need to do'," said Ricciardo, who had been due to spend the 2023 season as Red Bull reserve while assessing his future after a tough two years at McLaren. Red Bull boss Christian Horner said this week that Ricciardo had returned with some 'bad habits' but was now back to the driver of old. "I think the time off was really, really beneficial for me and I'm in a place now where I'm just hungry and ready to go...so, pretty pumped."

OTTAWA, July 18 (Reuters) - Canada's annual inflation rate dropped more than expected to a 27-month low of 2.8% in June, data showed on Tuesday, led by lower energy prices while food and shelter cost increases persisted. Month-over-month, the consumer price index was up 0.1%, Statistics Canada said, which was also lower than the 0.3% forecast. "Inflation is definitely moving in the right direction, but we're seeing stickier and more persistent core measures," said Michael Greenberg, senior vice president and portfolio manager at Franklin Templeton Investment Solutions. The average of two of the Bank of Canada's (BoC) core measures of underlying inflation, CPI-median and CPI-trim, came in at 3.8% compared with 3.9% in May. SYDNEY, July 16 (Reuters) - Australian Treasurer Jim Chalmers said on Sunday that he expected the nation's jobless rate to lift from near a 48-year low on the back of higher interest rates and slowing global growth. The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has said the jobless rate would need to rise to about 4.5% - still well below pre-pandemic levels - to bring the economy back into balance. Unemployment was expected to lift "a bit as the economy slows as a consequence of higher interest rates and global economic uncertainty", Chalmers said ahead of attending a meeting of Group of 20 (G20) finance ministers and central bankers in India with outgoing RBA Governor Philip Lowe. The RBA this month kept the cash rate at an 11-year high of 4.10%, having lifted rates by 400 basis points since May last year, but warned that further tightening might be needed. For more than two years, persistent and pervasive inflation has taken big bites out of Americans’ paychecks. Annual real weekly wages were up 0.6% last month, a rate that’s a tick below the 0.7% gain seen in February 2020. June also marked the second consecutive month of year-over-year real hourly wage growth — the first back-to-back months of gains since early 2021. Fears of a dreaded “wage-price spiral” — when rising wages and prices feed into each other — have made a bogeyman out of wage growth. And finally, supply-side inflation has drastically cooled to the point where annual inflation is practically flat — which, ideally, gives firms more wiggle room to pay workers, she said.

Plus, falling inflation means weaker pricing power, and therefore weaker revenue growth, Kantrowitz said. If you look at long-term earnings growth, we're sitting near record-low levels. Long-term growth expectations, shown in gray, are near all-time lows. The PEG ratio takes into account longer-term future earnings, as opposed to the more present-based price-to-earnings ratio. Twitter announced Thursday it would start sharing ad revenue with some creators. Twitter announced Thursday that creators would now be eligible to some of the company's ad revenue, "to help people earn a living directly" on the platform. But on the rare occasion Donaldson reveals how much ad revenue he makes, it is surprisingly little. Am account that reposts viral posts is among the big beneficiaries of Twitter's new monetization scheme. The "Internet Hall of Fame" account appears to have netted $100,000 from the scheme. The "internet hall of fame" account, which has 1.9 million followers and describes itself as highlighting the "best of the internet," in a screenshot Thursday was shown to have been paid $107,247.00.
