The market is fully expecting another interest rate hike from the Fed in July, after it skipped a rate hike in June. For the Fed, ideal inflation is in the target range of 2%. But he is more encouraged about the economy avoiding recession, which recent economic history said would not be possible. San Francisco Fed President Mary Daly expressed her commitment to lowering inflation even further on "Squawk on the Street" last week. "It's really too early to say that we can declare victory on inflation.

Here’s how to pay off student loans in a way that works for your budget and goals. Look into specialized loan forgiveness programsWhile the Supreme Court hasn’t shared its ruling on Biden’s widespread forgiveness initiative yet, there are other options for loan discharge, such as Public Service Loan Forgiveness and Teacher Loan Forgiveness. You can pay off federal student loans early, as there’s no student loan prepayment penalty. If you want to retain access to federal protections, it wouldn’t make sense to refinance your federal student loans. In the end, there’s no single right way to pay off student loans faster.

4 ways 'anchoring bias' can hurt you financially
  + stars: | 2023-06-21 | by ( Greg Iacurci | ) www.cnbc.com   time to read: +3 min
A 401(k) match can be an unintentional anchor"Anchors" can be intentional or unintentional, said Klontz, a member of CNBC's Advisor Council. A 401(k) match can serve as an unintentional anchor. Companies choose the respective structure of their 401(k) match — and that structure may inadvertently influence a worker's savings rate. For example, a company may opt to pay a match worth up to 3% of a worker's salary. Encouraging investors to start with a micro-investment "leads to lower wealth accumulation in this brokerage account due to anchoring bias," according to the paper.
