The tentative deal to end the last writers strike, in 2008, was approved by more than 90% of members. In that walkout, the writers strike started first and ended second.

New York CNN —Amazon is joining other streaming services and inserting ads into its programming. Beginning next year, shows and movies on its Prime Video service will “include limited advertisements,” the company announced Friday. Prime Video, which is home to “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and “Citadel,” is included in the $139 yearly Prime subscription. Streaming services are no long chasing subscribers, but rather investors are pressuring them to make money off the services, even if it comes at the expense of losing subscriptions. Hulu, in which Disney owns a majority stake, will also hike its monthly ad-free subscription $3 to $17.99.
