His routines, which often openly derided Nazism and Hitler, were eventually banned, and Nazis arrested Grünbaum in 1938. His wife, Elisabeth, was later forced to turn over her husband’s art collection — which Bragg said Wednesday included “hundreds of pieces” — to the Nazis. Grünbaum’s collection included “I Love Antithesis,” a colorful watercolor painting of the artist, and “Girl Putting on Shoe,” which was previously held by MoMA. In 2023, I’m still building a non-streaming music collection, shelling out hard cash for what the streaming industry has convinced consumers should be free. I know it’s a privilege for me to pooh-pooh streaming — after all, for those with less disposable income than I have, it offers access to enormous music libraries at little to no cost. I was still using iTunes until 2019, when Apple decided to sunset the app and replace it with a new media player called Music (not to be confused with Apple Music, the streaming service). In a terse statement, the Cleveland-based Hall of Fame offered no reason for its move, saying, "Jann Wenner has been removed from the Board of Directors of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation." Wenner, 77, said Black and female musicians were not "as articulate" as the others he chose to profile. CNN —Jann Wenner, co-founder of Rolling Stone magazine, has been removed from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation’s board after facing widespread criticism for controversial comments made in a New York Times interview published Friday about female and Black musicians. “Jann Wenner has been removed from the board of directors of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation,” Joel Peresman, the president and chief executive of the foundation, told the New York Times in a statement Saturday. CNN has reached out to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for comment. In the interview, he spoke about his decision to not include interviews with women and Black artists, and his remarks on the topic were widely criticized. He was inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as an individual in 2004, and is a co-founder of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation.

A band director ignored police requests to stop performing at the end of a football game. After he told his band to keep playing, police attempted to arrest him, the New York Post reported. The New York Post reported that Johnny Mims, the director of the Minor High School band, told musicians to keep playing after police instructed him to stop the music. The band was accompanying a high school football game between Minor High School and Jackson-Olin High School at the PD Jackson-Olin High School stadium in Alabama on September 14.
