After a siding with the bulls in the run-up to Netflix 's latest earnings report, CNBC's Jim Cramer explained why the quarter made him more optimistic about the company's future, saying he was impressed by management's outlook and commentary about content. Netflix beat Wall Street's expectations for earnings, revenue and paid membership growth when it posted its report Thursday evening. The streaming giant's shares popped 11% Friday morning and maintained those gains through close. Cramer was encouraged by management's guidance for the current quarter and 2025, as the company expects to keep up double-digit revenue growth some investors feared would be hard to maintain. He also liked Sarandos' positive read on how AI will impact business.

As the fourth quarter ramps up, several stocks have room to appreciate in coming months, according to Jefferies. Heading into the end of the year, Jefferies has updated its list of stock recommendations it calls its "franchise picks," spotlighting high-conviction, buy-rated names. "Higher reinvestment rates are correlated with better returns," Jefferies added. Their average price target of almost $24 implies roughly 10% upside – less than the nearly 26% that would result if Jefferies' target of $27 is reached. And Jefferies' target of $295 implies more than 17% upside from the current price.

Grant said stocks could soon enter a period of weak returns, possibly for "many years." AdvertisementThe bull market in stocks looks like it's close to the top, according to an investment chief. AdvertisementSentiment and position indicators are also flashing signs investors are overexcited about the stock market, Grant said. The 3-month moving average of year-ahead stock market expectations has climbed to its highest on record, according to Conference Board data. That suggests there's little "cushion" in the event the stock market declines or experiences a shock, Grant said.

Wall Street will be paying close attention to details surrounding the company's advertising-supported business model, upcoming live sporting events and the continued effects of its password crackdown on subscriber numbers. Morgan Stanley's Mike Wilson says the stock market's bull run could slow if the dollar strengthens again. AdvertisementMorgan Stanley's top stock strategist is eyeing one risk in particular that could threaten the stock market's big rally: a stronger US dollar. According to the firm's chief US equity strategist, Mike Wilson, a dollar re-strengthening could hinder stock gains. The greenback weakened as markets prepared for steep rate cuts, but that move has reversed in recent weeks as strong economic data makes more aggressive policy easing less likely. Wilson's call comes two years into the market's bull rally, with major indexes continuing to hit fresh all-time highs.
