The incident adds to the growing tally of children up to age 17 killed this year in gun violence: 1,114 as of Wednesday, with another 3,065 injured, Gun Violence Archive data shows. Nearly 3,600 children died in gun-related incidents that year – about 5 children lost for every 100,000 children in the United States. "Trump and the other defendants charged in this indictment refused to accept that Trump lost, and they knowingly and willfully joined a conspiracy to unlawfully change the outcome of the election in favor of Trump," the indictment said.
