CNN —A week after she obliterated the 1500m short-course record, Katie Ledecky broke another – this time in the 800m as she stormed to victory at the FINA World Cup in Indianapolis. The American shaved almost two seconds off Mireia Belmonte’s previous record of 7:59.34, setting a new best time of 7:57.42. Ledecky almost broke this record last week when she completed the 1500m in record time with a split time of 8:00.58, a second off world-record pace. “I pushed myself a lot after last week,” Ledecky said, according to FINA’s, the sport’s world governing body, website. The fight lasted all eight rounds and Paul was awarded the win by a unanimous decision, sealing victory in the final round by knocking down Silva. Malinin had become the first person ever to complete a quadruple axel in competition last month during the US International Figure Skating Classic, a lower-level event. But still, he was unsure whether to incorporate figure skating’s most difficult move into his free skate routine at Skate America. Meanwhile, reigning Olympic champion Nathan Chen has successfully landed every other type of quadruple jump except for the axel. For this official record, Kipchoge started fast, setting a 10km time split of just 28min 23sec and reaching the halfway mark in under an hour. After 25km, Kipchoge began to pull away from Belihu too, and though his blistering pace slowed slightly, he remained comfortably ahead of the world record all the way to the line. Rosemary Wanjiru of Kenya finished second with a time of 2:18:00, while Ethiopia’s Tigist Abayechew finished three seconds later in third place.
