Ford sales rose 1% during the second quarter over the year-earlier period, led by a 5% gain in truck sales, the automaker said Wednesday. Ford truck sales, which include pickups and vans, totaled 308,920 vehicles during the period, the company's best second-quarter performance for the category since 2019, Ford said. Sales of Ford electric vehicles totaled 23,957 during the second quarter, up 61%. GM said total sales of 696,086 made for its highest quarterly sales mark since the fourth quarter of 2020. But Benally – like 13,000 families in roughly a third of Navajo Nation households – is still off the electrical grid. But while private companies tapped those resources in the 20th century to help electrify areas around the Southwest, the Navajo Nation reaped few benefits. Linemen work to install power lines to bring electricity to the Navajo Nation. Today, it costs the Navajo Nation $40,000 per family, largely due to the remote, desert land. CNN —At least 19 bodies were discovered on Monday in an abandoned truck in the southern Mexican state of Chiapas, near the border with Guatemala, according to the state’s attorney general. Five of the bodies had gunshot wounds and all were wearing dark clothing and tactical vests containing ammunition, authorities said. Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador attributed the deaths to cartel violence and said some of the victims were migrants from Guatemala. Well, drug trafficking and the trafficking of migrants, meaning human trafficking, it’s a route,” Lopez Obrador said Tuesday during his daily press conference. The case on time limits, Corner Post v. Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, No. 22-1008, arose from a challenge to a 2011 regulation of debit-card swipe fees brought by two trade associations in 2021. The amended suit said Corner Post could not have sued within the six-year period after the issuance of the regulation because it did not yet exist. “Has the Justice Department and the agencies considered whether there is any interaction between these two challenges?” Justice Kagan asked. The lawyer, Benjamin W. Snyder, responded, “I want to be careful here.”Then he added that the consequences could be enormous.

That position appeared to have some purchase on the 6-3 conservative Supreme Court during oral arguments in April. The court will also decide two cases at the intersection of the First Amendment and social media. At issue are laws enacted in Florida and Texas aimed at stopping social media giants like Facebook and X from throttling conservative views. The Republican governors who signed the laws said they were needed to keep the social media platforms from discriminating against conservatives. The issue before the Supreme Court is whether the truck stop may sue in the first place, given a six-year statute of limitations on challenging government regulations.

The World’s Next Big Drag Queen Is Brazilian

São Paulo’s main avenue was packed this month with thousands of people draped in the yellow and green of the Brazilian flag and captivated by a commanding figure atop a tractor-trailer rigged with speakers. From above, the scene could have maybe passed for one of the many political rallies held in the same spot by former President Jair Bolsonaro, the Brazilian far-right leader who has infamously declared that he could never love a gay son. (Though, to be fair, the enormous rainbow flag would be a giveaway.) It was, in fact, one of the world’s largest Pride parades, and the person atop the sound truck was Phabullo Rodrigues da Silva, 30, the gay son of a working-class single mother in Brazil’s north. Yet everyone in the crowd knew him as Pabllo Vittar, a 6-foot-2-inch drag queen in a glittering cutoff Brazilian soccer jersey and shredded jean shorts — one of the biggest pop stars in this nation of 203 million.

Japan is the only country among the world’s wealthiest democracies that has not legalized same-sex unions. Few celebrities are openly gay. But now, Netflix is introducing the country’s first same-sex dating reality series. In Japan, the handful of openly gay and transgender performers who regularly appear on television are typically flamboyant, effeminate comic foils who are shoehorned into exaggerated stereotypes. With “The Boyfriend,” Dai Ota, the executive producer, said he wanted to “portray same-sex relationships as they really are.”

Farley said it's crucial for Ford to make profitable EVs in the next five years, as Chinese automakers continue to expand globally. The workplace drama I'm now highly invested in is from the Mohawk Chevrolet dealership in Ballston Spa, New York. Still, Walgreens topped revenue estimates for the quarter on strong performance in its health-care segment. The company reported a net income of $344 million, or 40 cents per share, for the quarter. CNN —After a series of mishaps, trucks of humanitarian aid are now beginning to roll onto the US military pier off the Gaza coast at a steadier pace. The US military says it is now moving about 800 pallets of humanitarian aid per day to Gaza via the temporary pier, or roughly 40 trucks. Humanitarian aid operations in Gaza have been severely hampered by an increase in Israeli military operations over the past month and humanitarian aid officials say lawlessness and looting are also on the rise. The Israeli military says it has been getting hundreds of aid trucks into Gaza recently, blaming humanitarian aid agencies’ lack of capacity for not picking up and distributing the aid.
