ANNEMASSE, France, July 15 (Reuters) - There were scenes of tears and pain as the 14th stage of the Tour de France turned into carnage, being halted for 25 minutes after a massive crash at the back of the peloton before two more riders hit the deck hard later on Saturday. The main incident occurred on a slippery descent with 146km left in the stage, with Movistar rider Antonio Pedrero forced to abandon the race after being carried off on a stretcher. In the descent of the Col de Saxel, France's Romain Bardet, second in the 2016 Tour de France, crashed on a bend at 60kph and after a long discussion with doctors, pulled out of the race, hiding tears behind his hands. The court’s Groff opinion shows a different aspect of the trajectory of religious rights. It involved an evangelical Christian who for religious reasons did not wish to work on Sundays. When his employer, the Postal Service, began Sunday deliveries at his location, he initially sought and received a transfer. He filed a lawsuit arguing that the service was required to do more to accommodate his Sunday Sabbath practice. By elevating one set of needs — religious obligations — above all others, the court has undermined the ability of employers to respond to a diverse work force in ways that fairly account for different needs.

CNN —With the Super Bowl heading to Las Vegas next year, could Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce’s unlikely golfing victory in Sin City be an auspicious sign for the Kansas City Chiefs? Mahomes and Kelce pulled off an upset 3 and 2 win against NBA stars Steph Curry and Klay Thompson in the eighth edition of “The Match” charity golf event, this year staged at Wynn Golf Club in Vegas. Quarterback Mahomes and tight end Kelce entered Thursday’s 12-hole game against their NBA counterparts as heavy underdogs, particularly given Curry’s prowess on the golf course. Mahomes and Kelce completed their victory on the next hole as the tight end – despite heckles from the side of the green – drained his close-range putt. The series started in 2018 when Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson went head-to-head at Shadow Creek Golf Course in North Las Vegas.

LONDON, June 29 (Reuters) - Major British lenders on Thursday announced another increase in mortgage rates offered via brokers, pushing many products above the 6% mark in painful news for many homeowners and potential buyers. Barclays (BARC.L), NatWest (NWG.L) and Virgin Money (VMUK.L) informed brokers that rates on many mortgage offerings will rise again on Friday, according to emails seen by Reuters. "As mortgage rates continue to rise, the property market is being pushed further towards a cliff edge and there's no real help in sight," mortgage broker Lewis Shaw of Shaw Financial Services said. Two-year swap rates - a key determinant of mortgage borrowing costs - have soared by 0.83 percentage points over the course of June. Mortgage rates of 6% represent the same financial burden from repayments as they did in the late 1980s, even though mortgage rates were around 13% then, according to housing market analyst Neal Hudson, founder of consultancy BuiltPlace.

"The EIB is exploring ways to scale up climate finance," it said in a statement on Friday at an international summit being held in Paris. EIB Global, the arm of the bank that lends outside the EU, invests around 10 billion euros ($10.87 billion) a year. It is estimated that roughly half of that money goes to countries that could be eligble for the new clauses. CNN —“Play big.”For the last decade, American golfer Wyndham Clark has carried a two-word rule into every competition. It’s an instruction left by his mother, Lise Clark, who died of breast cancer in 2013 while he was learning his trade at Oklahoma State University. “When she was sick and I was in college, she told me, ‘Hey, play big,’” Clark told reporters after his second round on Friday. So far, Clark's best-ever major finish was a top-75 finish at the PGA Championship in 2021. The housing market has totemic importance in Britain's consumption-driven economy and is closely linked to consumer confidence. The average mortgage rate on new two-year mortgage deals rose on Wednesday to 5.90%, according to property data provider Moneyfacts - the highest since December last year, in the aftermath of the mini-budget. "It takes a far lower mortgage rate to create the same amount of financial stress in terms of repayments as a double-digit mortgage rate did back in previous periods," Hudson said. Reuters GraphicsSTRESSThe question now is how mortgage market stress will feed through into the real economy. Jamie Lennox, director at broker Dimora Mortgages, said there was "no end in sight" for the trouble in the mortgage market.

Essentially, the Earth will become overcrowded and almost inhospitable by the mid-22nd century, so technology was developed to help citizens travel back 85 million years to inhabit the untouched Earth in a settlement called Terra Nova. The series' sole season ended in 2011 with the main character, Jim, destroying the portal to the past and narrowly making it back to Terra Nova. What would that mean for the people of Terra Nova? A.I. is helping hackers make better phishing emails
  + stars: | 2023-06-08 | by ( Bob Violino | ) www.cnbc.com   time to read: +5 min
"Historically, phishing emails have been somewhat easy to spot thanks to sloppy drafting," Finch said. "In particular, phishing emails created by a hacker unfamiliar with a certain language [have] tended to be easy to spot due to poor grammar, illogical vocabulary, and bad spelling." But AI allows many more people — regardless of their language skills — to quickly and cheaply generate convincing text for use in phishing emails, Finch said. Here are three steps cybersecurity leaders can take to strengthen their organizations' cybersecurity programs in the age of AI. The framework should include risk indicators, the AI ecosystem and regulations, and should "address the unique security considerations associated with AI within their organizations, and reducing their AI security risk," he said.
