“He’s a strong person,” said Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who’s known Walz since they were each first elected to Washington in 2006. As they monitor how Vance has been fencing with reporters in Q&As after his many events, Walz aides know their approach risks Walz getting rusty. Tim Walz of Minnesota are set to meet for the only scheduled vice-presidential debate on Tuesday, a face-off that could mark the final major moment of the campaign. Harris' national polling has ticked up since what was viewed as her convincing debate victory. This will be the first time either Brennan or O'Donnell have moderated a vice-presidential debate. Born into poverty, Vance attended the flagship school in his home state, Ohio State University, before obtaining a law degree from Yale. WeightWatchers' CEO of roughly two years, Sima Sistani, is out. AdvertisementIt's been a bumpy year for WW International, the company also known as WeightWatchers. In a leadership shake-up Friday, the weight-loss company announced CEO Sima Sistani is stepping down after roughly two years — effective immediately — and board member Tara Comonte is stepping up to serve as interim chief. Sistani helped push the company into the weight-loss drug space in 2023 through the $106 million acquisition of telehealth platform Sequence — which is now called WeightWatchers Clinic, and which prescribes weight-loss drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy. The telehealth purchase marked something of a pivot from the group support meetings and calorie-tracking menus WeightWatchers is known for, though the company also launched a behavioral program for patients on Ozempic.

CNN —US federal prosecutors on Friday unsealed criminal charges against three Iranian government-linked hackers in connection with a hacking operation aimed at Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. Masoud Jalili, Seyyed Ali Aghamiri and Yasar (Yaser) Balaghi are accused of aggravated identity theft and wire fraud for their hacking efforts on behalf of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Separately, the US Treasury Department on Friday imposed sanctions on seven people as part of a sweeping response to Iranian efforts “to influence or interfere” in the 2020 and 2024 US presidential elections. The alleged Iranian hack threw a twist in the presidential campaign in August when multiple news outlets reported receiving emails from a pseudonymous email account peddling documents stolen from the Trump campaign. The hacking operation began in June, when the alleged IRGC-linked hackers targeted longtime Trump ally Roger Stone and used access to his email account to target campaign staff.

And right now, the presidential campaigns’ dollars are talking about the “blue wall” — and about defining Kamala Harris. But there’s an equal amount of contrast spots, as well as positive ads telling the affirmative case for Harris. Pennsylvania is drawing far and away the most ad spending this month, from both parties. While Pennsylvania drew almost 20% of Democratic presidential ad spending and 11% of Republican spending over this period in 2020, it’s drawing more than a quarter of each party’s spending this year. Meanwhile, a longtime swing state, Iowa, has ceased to be a main battleground — with a resulting drop in ad spending.

Read previewAfter months of having to defend his age, President Joe Biden seems willing to discuss it — and its limitations — openly. Sitting for an interview on "The View" on Wednesday, he subtly acknowledged how age factored into his decision to drop out of the election. While Biden stopped short of pinning his decision on his age alone, he openly hinted at the toll being an 86-year-old president would have taken. At his State of the Union speech in March, Biden simultaneously joked about and worked hard to justify his age. When Whoopi Goldberg, one of the hosts, compared Trump to a bug, Biden slapped the table, miming killing the insect to raucous applause.
