An angry-looking mynah bird has become a viral video star after landing directly in front of a highway traffic camera in New Zealand. The black-and-yellow tropical bird stares curiously into the camera overlooking a section of road near Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city, its beak open as it appears to squawk loudly. Mynah birds, which have the ability to mimic human speech and are often kept as pets, are native to Asia. “A mynah annoyance like this can make the roads a bit tricky to see,” the agency said. “Thankfully the mynah didn’t stick around long and our bird’s eye view of the road was soon restored.”

CNN —An electric motorcycle, made by Swedish-Kenyan manufacturer Roam completed a 6,000-kilometer (3,700-mile) journey from Nairobi, Kenya, to Stellenbosch, South Africa, in 17 days, using only solar power. “(We wanted) to break a lot of boundaries on how traversing through sub-Saharan Africa is possible without pre-installed charging infrastructure,” Masa Kituyi, Roam product owner and one of the riders on the expedition, tells CNN. MANILA, Philippines — Police in the Philippines said Wednesday that they had arrested three suspects in the kidnapping of an American in the country’s south and that they believe the victim, who was shot in the leg during the abduction, is still alive. Two of the suspects in the Oct. 17 kidnapping of Elliot Onil Eastman, 26, in Sibuco town in Zamboanga del Norte province surrendered separately and pointed to a third suspect, who was arrested in Sibuco, police officials said. Three other suspects, who may be holding Eastman, have been identified, police said, adding that more people could be involved. He has been posting Facebook videos of his life in Sibuco, a remote and poor coastal town, where the suspects spotted him, Galvez said. The Abu Sayyaf group had targeted American and other Western tourists and religious missionaries, most of whom were freed after ransoms were paid.

William Herman Hietamaki was identified this month using genetic genealogy after construction workers initially found human bones near the Hoover Dam in 2009, according to a statement this week from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office. This month, the sheriff’s office learned that the John Doe in the case had ancestors with roots in Michigan dating back to the 1800s. The sheriff’s office said Hietamaki, a known hitchhiker who lived a nomadic lifestyle, had been traveling in the southwest United States. He was last seen when he visited his sister in New Mexico in 1995, according to the sheriff’s office.
