Next week brings big earnings reports from heavyweight financials and a couple other Wall Street favorites, some of which have strong forward earnings momentum ripe for investment. For the quarterly period, the estimated year-over-year earnings growth rate for the broad market index is 8.8%, according to FactSet. If that comes out as the actual growth rate for the quarter, it will be the highest year-over-year earnings growth rate reported by the index since the first quarter of 2022, which saw a 9.4% growth rate, FactSet said. Companies with strong earnings momentum often show revenue growth, improving margins or cost reductions, making the stocks look more attractive. ☆ Practicing gratitude could help you live longer, new study says

Now, a new study has found those who experience more gratitude also have a lower risk of dying. The researchers used data from the Nurses’ Health Study, which included nearly 50,000 women between ages 69 and 96 who completed a six-item gratitude questionnaire in 2016. The researchers controlled for factors such as psychological well-being, health issues and other demographics including social and religious participation. There’s no clear consensus on how often one should practice gratitude, Simon-Thomas said. Having more gratitude has also been linked to being more optimistic in general, and people who express higher levels of gratitude tend to look more for the good in life, Watkins added.

We are more excited by the outperformance of non-interest income than we are disappointed with the miss on net interest income. However, the team added, many of the factors driving net interest income are uncertain heading into the second half of the year. We don't like to see guidance misses, but bank interest income estimates depend on interest rates, which Wells Fargo has no real control over. Non-interest income increased 12% thanks to higher asset-based fees driven by an increase in market valuations.

But Mizuho expects things will play out differently, and instead raises its price target on the electric vehicle maker, citing challenges with its robotaxis. Morgan Stanley stands by Starbucks, keeping it at an overweight, but lowering its price target. "Shein's software could provide unprecedented access to sensitive supply chain data, which the Chinese government could seize under its laws. This exposure poses a direct threat to U.S. supply chain integrity, making it vulnerable to exploitation and manipulation." Even with a headquarters based in Singapore, company supply chain data could be subject to seizure by the Chinese.
