Rescue workers gather around damaged carriages during search for survivors at the accident site on Saturday. With the rail routes still blocked, family members of deceased passengers are having to find their way by other means to the crash site, to help identify the dead. India’s extensive rail network, one of the largest in the world, was built more than 160 years ago under British colonial rule. Decaying infrastructure is often cited as a cause for traffic delays and numerous train accidents in India. An ambitious National Rail Plan, announced in 2021, envisages that all major cities in north, west and south India should be connected by high-speed rail.

NEW YORK, June 2 (Reuters) - Exchange operator Cboe Global Markets (CBOE.Z) said on Friday it will let companies list across its U.S. and international exchanges, expanding in a fiercely competitive field dominated in the United States by the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Inc (NDAQ.O). Cboe, which has stock exchanges in North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region, currently lists only its own stock, along with exchange-traded funds, on its U.S. exchange. But financial software firm Abaxx Technologies Inc (ABXX.NLB), which is listed on Cboe Canada, has received conditional approval to be intralisted on Cboe U.S., the exchange operator said. "Cboe has built an expansive, global equities footprint unrivalled in the industry that uniquely positions us to deliver the first-ever truly global listing experience for issuers seeking to tap new markets beyond their home region," Dave Howson, global president of Cboe Global Markets, said in a statement. Exchanges earn recurring revenue from listings and charge various listing fees based on factors such as the amount of shares a company lists.

Theaters are installing heated lounge chairs that fully recline or have built-in trays and buttons to summon waiters. Some auditoriums now have screens on the sides as well as at the front. One outside Fort Worth built a gangplank 22 feet above an arcade floor — walk it if you dare. Another in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., has a kitchen and lobby bar with TV screens so a customer can, say, catch the end of a ballgame before the feature starts. Adidas said its decision to sever ties with Ye cost the company €1.2 billion in lost sales and about €500 million in profit this year. Jonathan A. Greenblatt, chief executive of the Anti-Defamation League, which is among the groups that will benefit from the proceeds of the sale, welcomed Adidas’s decision as one fitting the complexity of the problem. But other groups noted that despite Adidas’s pledge to donate the proceeds, Ye will still make money off the sales. The Yeezy brand became a defining force in the sportswear industry and an incredibly lucrative cornerstone for Adidas. Adidas said it was considering further releases of the Yeezy inventory, but it did not give a timeline.

Jen Glantz wasn't sure which career path to take when she graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2010. But outside of her professional life, Glantz noticed she was constantly being asked to be people's bridesmaid. Altogether her various income streams bring in more than $5,000 in passive income per month. BRUSSELS, May 26 (Reuters) - Twitter cannot run away from its obligations even after quitting a voluntary EU code of practice to tackle disinformation, EU industry chief Thierry Breton warned the company late on Friday. Companies which signed up to the code are required to provide regular progress reports with data on how much advertising revenue they had averted from disinformation actors. "Twitter leaves EU voluntary code of practice against disinformation. You can run but you can't hide," Breton said in a tweet. Twitter, which no longer has a public relations department, responded to an emailed request for comment with a poop emoji.

This article contains spoilers for Episode 9 of the final season of “Succession.”We knew it was coming: the funeral service for Logan Roy. After several episodes of planning and maneuvering, the Roy children finally have the chance to ceremonially mourn their father. The funeral guests wore black, and the Roy children stuck to the dress code. Because his immediate observation upon seeing Marcia at Logan’s funeral — “Marcia’s looking chic” — is something one of us would definitely say, if we didn’t already say it during her one (one!) Although we wouldn’t be so, uh, crude about it.
JPMorgan wants Staley to cover some or all damages it might face in lawsuits brought by Epstein's accusers and the U.S. Virgin Islands over its ties to Epstein. The lawsuits accuse the bank of aiding in Epstein's sex trafficking by keeping him as a client from 1998 to 2013, the last five years after he pleaded guilty to a Florida prostitution charge. Had Staley "observed his obligations, Epstein would not have been a client," said Leonard Gail, a lawyer for JPMorgan. Staley, who later served as Barclays Plc's (BARC.L) chief executive, has expressed regret for befriending Epstein but denied knowing about his crimes. Epstein died in a Manhattan jail cell in August 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking.

This year, advertisers and ad agencies may well use the strike as a bargaining tool, said Erin Firneno, vice president of business intelligence for researcher Advertiser Perceptions. The writers’ strike, which has entered its third week, is also injecting a new element of uncertainty for ad buyers, at a time when television viewership is declining and the possibility of recession looms. While the TV networks have long contended with splintered viewership amid the rise of social media and streaming, the writers' strike puts content production at risk, said Rishad Tobaccowala, a former executive at advertising and public relations giant Publicis Groupe and advisor on business transformation. Last year, NBC’s upfront presentation emphasized star power as the network returned to a live event after a COVID-19-imposed hiatus. Ahead of the upfront presentations, media executives sought to reassure investors about the strike’s impact.

May 13 (Reuters) - Ukrainian troops are advancing in two directions in the eastern city of Bakhmut but the situation in the city centre is more complicated, deputy defence minister Hanna Malyar said on Saturday. Ukrainian and Russian officials both say pro-Kyiv forces have started to push back in and around Bakhmut after blunting a months-long offensive by troops loyal to Moscow that left much of the city in ruins. "Our troops are gradually advancing in two directions in the suburbs of Bakhmut ... however, the situation in the city itself is more complicated," Malyar wrote on Telegram. Much of the fighting is Bakhmut is being led by the Wagner group of mercenaries. The letter dealt with what Prigozhin says is the poor performance by regular troops on Wagner's flanks.

SINGAPORE, May 11 (Reuters) - If the global energy transition is to be delivered in the coming decades, the mining industry believes there is one certainty. One thing most mining and energy transition analysts agree on is that there is currently insufficient copper production to meet anticipated demand as the world moves to electric vehicles and renewable energy technologies. If this is the case, the question is then why the future price of copper is relatively flat relative to the current price. It now takes an average of 23 years from discovery of a copper resource to a producing mine, according to data shown at the conference by Michael Langford, the executive director of consultants Airguide. The industry view is that many of the people demanding an energy transition the loudest are the very same people working hardest to make it virtually impossible to produce the necessary metals.
