China's government announced it will offer a one-time cash allowance to those in extreme poverty, a day after its central bank rolled out a slate of stimulus measures aimed at shoring up the economy. The handout will be provided to "extremely poor people, orphans and other needy people on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of New China," China's Ministry of Civil Affairs reported on Wednesday. The report did not specify the size of the allowance or any further details. As of last November, 40.4 million people in China were covered by subsistence allowances. The average allowance was about 779 yuan ($110.80) per person a month for those staying in urban areas, while rural subsistence was 615 yuan per person.

Just one Republican ad, a Spanish-language spot from an outside group targeting Democratic Sen. Jacky Rosen of Nevada, mentioned abortion. Studying brain health among diverse populationsTo tackle the gap in knowledge, the authors studied participants enrolled in the United States-based All of Us Research Program between May 2017 and June 2022. The authors included only dementia, stroke and late-life depression in their list of brain health outcomes since those are some of the most prominent diseases that affect neurological, psychiatric and cognitive aspects of the brain. Of the 393,041 adults age 51 on average, about 10% belonged to sexual or gender minority groups. Of that subset, 97% identified as a sexual minority and 11% as a gender minority, but these two groups weren’t mutually exclusive. However, the reasons behind this effect remain elusive.”There is no evidence that being a sexual or gender minority alone causes worse brain health, experts said.

Sean “Diddy” Combs has been moved to a section of the New York City jail where convicted cryptocurrency fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried is being held, sources confirm to NBC News. The area of the detention center is reserved for detainees who require special protection, three sources familiar with the matter said on Tuesday. Combs, 54, was arrested last week and is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, a federal jail that has a notorious reputation for violence and poor care. Bankman-Fried, known as SBF, was convicted in November and was sentenced in March to 25 years in federal prison. Combs has not been convicted and has pleaded not guilty, but a federal judge on Sept. 17 ordered that he be held in jail pending trial.
