The multi-trillion dollar fashion industry contributes significant greenhouse gas emissions, between 8% to 10% of total global emissions, according to the United Nations. With the majority of textiles in the fashion industry blended, it is harder to recycle one fiber without harming another. Spinnova partnered with the world's largest pulp and paper company this year, Suzano, to turn wood and waste into recycled textile fiber. Textile waste, by some measures, is a bigger issue than plastics waste, and it has a similar problem. Late last year it worked on a limited collection with fast fashion clothing giant — and consumer consumption flashpoint — Zara, using its recycled textile waste material.

Ilkay Gundogan (C) of Manchester City lifts the UEFA Champions League trophy after the team's victory in the UEFA Champions League 2022/23 final match against Inter at Ataturk Olympic Stadium. Manchester City completed the treble with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Inter Milan in the Champions League final in Istanbul. Having already overhauled Arsenal to retain the Premier League trophy and beaten Manchester United to lift the FA Cup at Wembley, this victory saw them match the achievement of their city rivals in 1999. City's task was made more difficult when Kevin De Bruyne trudged off injured in the first half, the second time in three seasons that he has departed a Champions League final with the game in the balance. The midfielder measured his finish, bending it beyond two Inter defenders and into the corner of the net to break the deadlock.

Many of those "visitors", however, failed to take their seats. Several women's matches were played in front of half-empty stands, making for poor footage as TV cameras hovered above the stadium. A year before the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, the French federation's (FFT) stands were almost empty throughout a women's doubles wheelchair semi-final. It ended nearly 20 years later, when Mr. Trump refused to concede the 2020 election to Joseph R. Biden Jr. Mr. Christie gave Mr. Trump a boost by endorsing his 2016 candidacy after ending his own bid for the Republican nomination, and then coached him for debates and led his initial presidential transition team. In return, Mr. Trump passed him over for the roles of vice president and attorney general. Mr. Trump eventually turned back to Mr. Christie for other advice during his term. But by the midway point of the presidency, Mr. Christie seemed content to be on the outside.

PARIS, June 3 (Reuters) - Tour de France organisers have set up an anti-COVID protocol for this year's race, with riders and team staff banned from signing autographs and eating out of their hotels, a source with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters on Saturday. Riders and staff members were allowed out of their hotels last year. Access to the paddock will be allowed when the Tour starts in Bilbao, Spain on June 29, with everyone required to wear a mask. Respect social distancing at the hotel," the chart, seen by Reuters, said. Giro d'Italia organisers last month set up an anti-COVID protocol near the halfway point of the race after overall leader Remco Evenepoel pulled out after testing positive for coronavirus.

RBC Capital lifted its year-end target for the S & P 500 as the tech-led market rally continued, seeing double-digit gains for 2023. The new target is only about 1% higher than the S & P 500's Friday close of 4,205.45 but it would represent a 10% gain for the year. The firm said it's worth looking at cheap small caps right now. "Small Caps are at an attractive entry point for patient investors." Additionally, Calvasina said periods of economic stress are usually good buying opportunities for small caps as the cohort tends to underperform heading into a recession and starts to outperform midway through a downturn.
Looking for a place with waterfront views? The government might have a deal for you. The General Services Administration said on Friday that it was giving away six lighthouses to nonprofits or government agencies that promise to maintain them, and planned to sell four others to the public at auction. The lighthouses are on some of the most picturesque waters in New England and the Midwest. But aspiring lightkeepers should be prepared to do some repair work before living out their 19th-century maritime fantasies.
The Roy children’s individual ambitions are sometimes risible, but we’re never asked to question why they would be ambitious in the first place. What’s not acceptable, within the moral logic of the show, is the ambition of those characters who were not born into money and power but want to achieve them. In an episode midway through the final season, Tom admits to Shiv that he cares about these things. I do.” He tells her, “If you think that’s shallow, why don’t you throw out all of your stuff for love? “You’re a hick,” she says, “your whole family is striving and parochial.” Striving — that’s the biggest insult of them all.

Fifth-placed Liverpool, who are on 66 points after a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa, face relegated Southampton on the final day. It is not easy scoring goals," United manager Erik ten Hag told the BBC. As Manchester United's game was ending, Liverpool were a goal down to Aston Villa and a defeat there would have guaranteed United's qualification for the Champions League. But even though Roberto Firmino equalised for Liverpool, Ten Hag said he was not interested in that result.
Midway through his face-to-face meeting with President Biden in Indonesia last fall, the Chinese leader, Xi Jinping, offered an unsolicited warning. For months, he and his aides had worked to recruit allied countries to impose their own restrictions on sending technology to China. The effort echoed the sort of industrial policy that China had employed to become the world’s manufacturing leader. In Bali, Mr. Xi urged Mr. Biden to abandon it. As Mr. Biden and fellow leaders of the Group of 7 nations meet this weekend in Hiroshima, Japan, a centerpiece of their discussions will be how to rapidly accelerate what has become an internationally coordinated round of vast public investment.

Rune outlasted Djokovic in three sets in last year's Paris Masters final and the 20-year-old made the perfect start in search of another upset by breaking the world number one in the opening game of the match. "Obviously, I did it last year in Paris, but every match is a huge challenge when I play Novak. "He's one of the greatest to ever play the game so I knew I had to be at my best. Rune said he hoped to stay humble after another statement win on the ATP Tour.
Plenty of uncertainty around global wheat production and trade remains, especially in the Black Sea, since 2023-24 grain crops are far from settled. Wheat SU among major exporters in May 2022 was pegged at a 15-year low of 13.5% for 2022-23, expanding to 13.75% by February 2023. This SU trend in major wheat exporting countries is not exclusive to 2022-23. With relentless Manchester City winning at Everton in the earlier kickoff to move four points clear, long-time league leaders Arsenal knew only a victory would suffice. The result also moved Brighton up to sixth place with games in hand on the teams around them. City could even secure it before that if Arsenal lose against Nottingham Forest on Saturday. I don't think City are going to do too many mistakes now," Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard said. And there was a lethargy about Arsenal's play as Brighton sucked the life out of them with their measured passing game.

LEEDS, England, May 13 (Reuters) - Newcastle United suffered more jitters in their quest to finish in the Premier League's top four as they drew 2-2 at relegation-threatened Leeds United but Southampton's agony is over after being relegated on Saturday. Leeds defender Rasmus Kristensen's second-half equaliser denied Newcastle the victory that would have all but assured them a place in next season's Champions League. Southampton have 24 points from 36 games, 19th-placed Leicester City have 30 from 35 with Leeds on 31 points from 36 games and Everton on 32 from 35. Newcastle striker Alexander Isak was then hacked down by Maximillian Wober and Callum Wilson converted from the penalty spot. Newcastle were awarded a second penalty midway through the second half when Firpo handled and Wilson proved deadly once again.
Days after taking over as the new CEO of Lyft (LYFT) last month, Risher announced plans to “significantly reduce” the company’s workforce and stressed that the decision was his. The next week, Lyft (LYFT) revealed the extent of the layoffs: 26% of the staff, or more than 1,000 employees, would lose their jobs. It has lagged behind its chief rival, Uber (UBER), in recovering from the pandemic shock to business. And that really is Jeff Bezos,” Risher told CNN. “It’s not our focus to be part of somebody else’s company,” Risher said.
Lyft says riders can now pre-order a ride as soon as they land at an airport. The new feature comes as the ride-hailing app is trying to up its game to compete with Uber. For travelers that dread waiting and waiting to get picked up from the airport, Lyft says it has an answer: a new feature that lets travelers request a ride as soon as their flight lands. Other changes the company has made include discontinuing its pooled ride feature, which it pioneered ahead of competitor Uber, according to Bloomberg. The company has also been scrambling to compete Uber, to which it ceded market share during the pandemic after being slow to introduce driver-friendly features and bonuses, the Wall Street Journal reported last month.

The next major after the PGA Championship is the U.S. Open from June 15-18.
