CNN —Ukraine’s military on Sunday said it had destroyed one of Russia’s newest and most advanced fighter jets in a drone strike on a military base deep inside Russia. Ukrainian forces said they successfully destroyed one of Russia's most advanced combat jets, SU-57, in a drone strike on a military base deep inside Russia. Flight Global’s “World Air Forces 2024” directory lists 14 Su-57s as active and another 62 as on order. TASS reported in 2022 that Russian forces will receive a total of 22 Su-57s by the end of this year. New York CNN —Elliott Investment Management announced Monday it has taken a $1.9 billion stake in Southwest Airlines and said there needs to be new leadership at the Dallas-based carrier. Southwest (LUV) stock gained more than 6% in trading Monday on the news of Elliott’s letter to the Southwest Board. Ellioitt’s letter made no mention of a desire to change Southwest from an all-737 fleet, which would increase the cost of pilot training and spare parts. Its letter does not give details about the changes it wants to see, other than a change in leadership at the airline. CEO Bob Jordan told investors last month that the airline is “seriously studying” a possible change to that policy.

Russian blogger Fighterbomber said the jet fighter was struck by shrapnel and the damage was currently being assessed to see if the aircraft could be repaired. It is a heavy fighter jet capable of fulfilling a variety of battlefield roles.

Former western pilots — which number at least in the dozens — are training Chinese military officials who then return to China and, in turn, train more pilots there, this person said. An indictment in 2017 alleged that Duggan trained Chinese pilots while he was still a US citizen, between November 2009 and November 2012. That same month, the UK Ministry of Defense issued a security alert after several of its military pilots were also found to have been training the PLA Air Force. The video, released by Ukraine's 79th State Border Guard Service, appears to show the Russian soldiers being targeted by Ukrainian FPV drones. The drone tracks the jet ski as it crosses the river. When the Russian soldiers reach the opposing bank, the drone hones in and hits the jet ski.

The new regulations seek to better protect national security and fulfill international obligations such as non-proliferation, a spokesperson from the Ministry of Commerce said in a statement. The notice was jointly announced with the General Administration of Customs as well as the Equipment Development Department of the Central Military Commission. Exports of items including equipment, software and technologies related to aerospace structural components, engine manufacturing and manufacturing of gas turbines will require export licenses.
