Moving high-school start times later could help teenagers cope with mental health issues coming out of the pandemic, say a growing number of sleep researchers and psychologists. Teens have a biological need to go to bed and wake up later, due to hormonal changes that occur during puberty, research indicates. However, U.S. public high-school start times have been inching earlier over the past 15 years, and an increasing percentage of U.S. teens are getting fewer than the minimum eight hours doctors say they need.

TikTok app logo is seen in this illustration taken, August 22, 2022. The more time that passes, the harder TikTok gets to police. Biden’s predecessor Donald Trump tried to force a sale two years ago and threatened to ban TikTok over concerns that Chinese parent ByteDance could take American data. Biden’s team has similar security worries, and the latest proposal is to have TikTok store its American data in the United States, according to the New York Times citing sources familiar with the talks. MIAMI — President Joe Biden is coming to Florida next week to campaign with Charlie Crist as he tries to unseat Gov. But Democratic Senate candidate Val Demings won’t be there Tuesday to meet the president in her hometown, Orlando. In Florida, Crist has a tougher race on his hands than Demings. A Suffolk University poll, conducted for USA Today and released Wednesday, drove home the differences between the two Florida Democrats. President Biden knows that, which is why he is coming and why I’m proud to welcome him.”NBC News has asked the White House for comment.
An animal voyage is special because it requires us to make many journeys all at once. To return home from an animal voyage is to become, yourself, a new animal living in your old habitat. “If the snow leopard should manifest itself, then I am ready to see the snow leopard,” Matthiessen writes. The best trips, like Peter Matthiessen’s search for the snow leopard, find a way to make themselves permanent. It's a complicated, debilitating illness and drug companies have struggled for years to come up with viable treatments. Other big drug companies such as Roche Holdings and Eli Lilly are pursuing similar treatments, with results expected to come later this year and early next year, respectively. "I think people's confidence in the amyloid hypothesis would go down even further, but ultimately people would wait to see what those other data events show," he said. Negative results might give a boost to companies that are exploring alternate ways to treat Alzheimer's disease. And though Biogen's drug is furthest along in development, it's far from being the only treatment being tested for Alzheimer's.
Raindrops hang on a sign for Wall Street outside the New York Stock Exchange in Manhattan in New York City, New York, U.S., October 26, 2020. Five of the 11 S&P 500 sectors were down in early trading. Unexpectedly hot August inflation data last week also raised bets on increased rate hikes down the road, with the terminal rate for U.S. fed funds now at 4.48%. The S&P 500 has lost 19% so far this year on worries of a central bank-induced recession amid recent warnings of slowing demand from delivery firm FedEx and an inverted U.S. Treasury yield curve. The CBOE volatility index (.VIX), also known as Wall Street's fear gauge, rose to 27 points, inching closer to a more than two-month high.
The US is moving closer to setting up a free federal tax-filing system. The US is inching closer to modernizing how Americans file their taxes and breaking the grip that private tax-prep companies, like TurboTax and H&R Block, have over the process. Within the Inflation Reduction Act, which passed with only Democratic votes last month, $15 million was set aside for the Treasury Department to study a free federal tax-filing website. That's resulted in a massive backlog of unprocessed tax returns that the IRS is still trying to clear out. The Inflation Reduction Act is set to ease some of that pain, with Democrats directing $80 billion toward the IRS.
MEXICO CITY — In a trendy part of Mexico City, in a park surrounded by hipster coffeeshops and restaurants, stands a figure dressed in white with hands in prayer like a Catholic statuette: the so-called patron saint against gentrification. Nearly two million foreigners touched down at the Mexico City International Airport in the first half of 2022, inching toward the record 2.5 million arrivals in the first half of 2019. The gap between American and Mexican salaries means even affluent Mexico City residents can get priced out, in a city that is already home to wide wealth disparities. According to Mexico’s statistics agency, the top 10% of Mexico City households earned more than 13 times as much as the bottom 10% of households in 2020. Coronado, an architect and interior designer who lives between Los Angeles and Mexico City, said he understands locals are resentful.

Last week Musk's attorneys demanded that documents from 22 Twitter employees be handed over. Judge Kathleen St. Jude McCormick on Monday ordered Twitter to comply in part with a motion to compel from Musk's attorneys. They requested documents from 22 additional Twitter employees they said had information on the company's process of analyzing spam or "bot" accounts. Musk's motion to compel for the additional documentation was filed last week confidentially, which means it doesn't appear on the court's docket. While Musk's attorneys pushed for document production from many additional Twitter employees, McCormick relented only on Beykpour.
In the early days of the industry, nonprofits and scrappy startups made up the psychedelics space. Research on compounds like psilocybin, the active compound found in magic mushrooms, and MDMA is resurfacing after years of neglect amid the war on drugs. Soon, VC firms focused on psychedelics companies began to emerge. Some psychedelics VCs, however, are still wary about entering the newest psychedelics space: Oregon's soon-to-be-legal magic mushroom market. Insider published a list of the psychedelics startups that raised the most cash in 2020.

On Thursday, AutoX, an Alibaba (BABA)-backed startup, announced it had rolled out fully driverless robotaxis on public roads in Shenzhen. Previously, companies operating autonomous shuttles on public roads in the country were constrained by strict caveats, which required them to have a safety driver inside. In Shenzhen, AutoX has completely removed the backup driver or any remote operators for its local fleet of 25 cars, it said. Race of the robotaxiWhile AutoX has claimed an edge in China, it’s not the first time fully driverless shuttles have hit public roads. In June, Didi, China’s biggest ride-hailing firm, began offering free rides in its autonomous vehicles within a designated area of Shanghai.
Some casual internet research led me to the answer I needed: balance transfer credit cards. How I chose a balance transfer credit cardBalance transfer credit cards generally offer an introductory 0% APR for a set period of time, and often no fee for transferring your balance on another card to this card instead. Doing a second balance transfer with the Citi Simplicity® CardLuckily, I was approved for a second balance transfer credit card. My credit union credit card still had a $2,000 balance. I did the math and set the monthly payments on my Citi Simplicity® Card and my credit union credit card on autopay.
