Shares of Vestas Wind Systems tanked on the news that Donald Trump had won the 2024 presidential election. However, analysts at a number of investment banks have suggested that investors overreacted to fears of a downturn for the sector. And he's not alone — the consensus price target of all analysts covering the stock points to an upside of more than 50%. Vestas shares are also traded in the U.S. with the ticker VWDRY . In addition to the political headwinds, Vestas Wind Systems has also had to contend with the rising cost of materials and labor over the past few quarters.

Leah Millis | ReutersNow that Donald Trump has been elected president, many individual investors are wondering what that means for their money. Yet, when it comes to long-term performance of the markets and policies that Trump proposed on the campaign trail, financial advisors say it's best to take a wait-and-see approach before making any big money decisions. Lee Baker, a CFP and owner of Claris Financial Advisors in Atlanta, said he's also told clients not to make wholesale financial changes now. Many investors expect Trump to lead with faster economic growth and more market-friendly policies, said Francis during a Friday webcast on what Trump's presidency could mean for investors' money. While those policies would put more money in Americans' pockets, Francis noted, other experts say it's too soon to count on those changes.

Over the weekend, authorities in Kaifeng and Zhengzhou closed off bike lanes on Zhengkai Avenue, to try to stop cyclists from entering. To prevent students from joining the cycling crowd, some colleges and universities in Zhengzhou even imposed restrictions on leaving campus, according to accounts shared by students on social media. In the spring of 1989, university students in Beijing rode their bikes to Tiananmen Square to join pro-democracy protests that ended in a bloody crackdown by the Chinese military. Their journey quickly went viral, inspiring more Zhengzhou students to follow suit as the hashtag “youth is priceless” trended on social media. Others said local authorities should have been better prepared for the influx of students before they jumped in to promote the trend.

A U-turn on US climate policy could be disastrous for the planet, as it raises the risk of emulation. When America does something on the world stage, at least some countries tend to follow. Ahead of Trump’s inauguration, negotiators will ramp down their expectations in terms of what’s possible at the talks, he said. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who will host the climate talks next year in Brazil, bowed out after a head injury. The world is already 1.3 degrees warmer than it was before humans started burning fossil fuels at an industrial scale.

HAVANA — A 6.8 magnitude earthquake shook eastern Cuba on Sunday, after weeks of hurricanes and blackouts that have left many on the island reeling. The rumbling was felt across the eastern stretch of Cuba, including in bigger cities like Santiago de Cuba. The earthquake comes during another tough stretch for Cuba. First, it was hit by island-wide blackouts stretching on for days, a product of the island’s energy crisis. The blackouts and wider discontent among many struggling to get by has stoked small protests across the island.

Sanders added it is “problematic” if schedule F is being used to reinforce and maintain political loyalty. The spoils system was replaced by the current merit-based system where career employees serve multiple administrations, carrying out their jobs independent of politics. The Biden administration erected temporary roadblocks at the federal Office of Personnel Management – rules aimed at protecting federal workers from retaliatory mass firings. The District of Columbia itself has the largest individual chunk of federal workers in any state or territory, with more than 162,000.
