New York CNN —Egg prices have risen steadily over the past two years. Egg prices at the grocery store were up 30.4% in October from the year prior, according to the consumer-price index. Increased demand from holiday cooking makes egg prices even more volatile. Avian flu, which is spread through wild birds, has been plaguing farmers and egg supply since January 2022. “Our egg prices really ride the waves associated with high influenza,” said Bernt Nelson, an economist with the American Farm Bureau Federation.

Speaking during his weekly cabinet meeting on Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at this point Israel could not verify the images. The prime minister also said he had spoken with the mother of the hostage purportedly shown in the photos. More than 250 people were taken hostage and about 1,200 killed during the Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023. At least 34 of the hostages taken on October 7 are thought to be dead.

Chuck Woolery, the affable host of “Love Connection,” “Wheel of Fortune” and other television game shows, who later criticized liberal values and the Democratic Party as the co-host of a popular right-wing podcast, died on Saturday at his home in Texas. His death was confirmed by Mark Young, the co-host of his podcast, “Blunt Force Truth.” He did not specify the cause. In the late 1970s, Mr. Woolery was the inaugural host of “Wheel of Fortune,” now one of the longest-running game shows on television. And in the early 1980s, he was tapped to host “Love Connection,” a dating show that helped to make him a household name.
