In June, Robinhood announced plans to acquire no-fee credit card startup X1 for $95 million. The experiment kicked off more than two years ago, a few months after the rover landed on Mars. The instrument works by converting some of Mars’ plentiful carbon dioxide into oxygen. MOXIE works by dividing up carbon dioxide molecules, which include one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms. Lessons learned from the small MOXIE experiment can now be used to create a full-scale system that includes an oxygen generator that can also liquefy and store the oxygen.

CNN —A new crater has appeared on the moon, and it was likely created when Russia’s uncrewed Luna 25 mission crashed into the lunar surface. Images taken by NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter and released by the agency on Thursday reveal the fresh crater. The Luna 25 spacecraft, Russia’s first lunar lander in 47 years, launched on August 10 and was expected to land near the lunar south pole a couple of weeks later. But communication with the spacecraft was disrupted and Roscosmos, Russia’s space agency, reported an “emergency situation” occurred while Luna 25 tried to enter a pre-landing lunar orbit on August 19. The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter previously imaged the site in June 2022.

The exact recipes used in the mummification have long been debated because ancient Egyptian texts don’t name precise ingredients. The new findings suggest that the relatively complex balms used in Senetnay’s preservation may have been the beginning of a trend of more elaborate ones used later on. Dammar resin, an ingredient used in embalming, appears next to a bottle of the recreated ancient scent. “The scent of eternal life” will be part of an ancient Egyptian exhibit at the Danish museum that opens in October.

ET, the bright glow of Saturn will appear about 5 degrees to the upper right of the moon. Over the course of the evening, Saturn will appear to move clockwise around the moon, according to NASA. The second full moon in one month is also known as a blue moon, like the phrase “once in a blue moon,” according to NASA. This results in a blue moon about every 2.5 years, and the last one occurred in August 2021.

The spinning dead star and the companion star that it closely orbits were first discovered in 2007. Once the pulsar began siphoning off material from the companion star, its characteristic pulsing beam disappeared. Instead, the pulsar entered a constant, alternating cycle of operating in what astronomers call “high” mode and “low” mode. They discovered that an exchange of matter between the pulsar and its companion star triggers the unusual behavior of the pulsar. As the pulsar tugs at its companion star, gas releases from the companion and forms a disk around the pulsar before slowly falling toward it.

Webb previously captured a different perspective on the Ring Nebula, as well as the similar-looking Southern Ring Nebula. A longtime favorite of astronomers, the Ring Nebula has been studied for years due to its observability and the insight it can provide into the lifetime of stars. Messier and astronomer Darquier de Pellepoix discovered the Ring Nebula in 1779. As the dying star was throwing off its atmosphere, the companion star shaped the outflow and sculpted it.”
