(I assume that's the name of the Judi Dench stan-dom) who haven't yet found the right reason to experiment with an AI voice chatbot. Around this time last year, Meta introduced a different round of celebrity AI assistants as part of Messenger. So why is Meta using the celebrity AI playbook again if it apparently crashed and burned last time? TikTok has banned all political advertising on the app since 2019, but that hasn’t stopped advertisers from running what appear to be paid political messages on the platform. According to TikTok, the company does “not allow ads featuring political content across any of our monetization features, including paid ads, creators being paid to make branded political content, and other promotional tools on the platform.”TikTok stands apart among its big tech peers in banning political ads — Facebook, Instagram, X and Google all allow political advertisements. The continued presence of political ads on TikTok illustrates the difficulties in patrolling its own platform just weeks ahead of the 2024 presidential election and amid the court proceedings over its potential ban. The findings come as recent research shows that political ads on social media platforms are often filled with misinformation. There were no obvious signs of misinformation among the TikTok videos NBC reviewed.

Mark Robinson, Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina and candidate for Governor, delivers remarks prior to Republican presidential nominee former President Donald Trump speaking at a campaign event at Harrah's Cherokee Center on August 14, 2024 in Asheville, North Carolina. The political network largely funded by billionaire industrialist Charles Koch has been quietly backing North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson despite a litany of controversies, according to records uncovered by CNBC. Though Robinson has denied he wrote the scores of posts, at least four of his top aides from his North Carolina gubernatorial campaign resigned within days of the report's publication. The move by Americans for Prosperity to back Robinson from a policy perspective surprised some North Carolina Republican strategists.

The White House wants to close a trade loophole exploited by Chinese discount e-retailers — a move that would have a ripple effect on at least two of our portfolio stocks: Amazon and Meta Platforms. The de minimis exemption has allowed Chinese e-commerce giants, particularly low-cost Temu and Shein, to flourish. Temu has risen in popularity in the U.S. for selling items directly from Chinese merchants at massive discounts. Temu is generally seen as a growing competitor to Amazon since its prices are often lower. When Vice President Kamala Harris took the reins of the Democratic nomination in late July, something happened in North Carolina. Part of the Harris campaign strategy in North Carolina, according to a campaign official, includes attempting to bulk up turnout not just among Black voters but among women in and around the suburbs. For the week after Harris became the presumptive nominee, there was a 61.5% increase in voter registration among North Carolina women. Bonier takes all of this to point to a higher turnout of Democratic voters in North Carolina. “The way you win statewide in North Carolina,” he said, “is you win on the margins.”

Polish American voters are having a moment. “The Polish American vote there is meaningful,” Jackson said. “A question I frequently get is whether there is even such a thing as a Polish American vote. The efforts by Harris and Trump show “the candidates are clearly making a play for the Polish American vote,” said Dominik Stecula, an assistant professor of communications at Ohio State University.
