It's never been easier to see how much a job will pay before you go into an interview. But once you have that information, how can you actually leverage pay ranges to negotiate a job offer? It's as simple as asking one straightforward question in a job interview, says Chanelle Howell, 31, a New York City-based recruiter who's interviewed hundreds while working for Goldman Sachs, Bridgewater Associates and through her own consulting company. She recently gave this example: Say you're interviewing for a position that states the salary range is $100,000 to $150,000. The key is to repeat these qualities throughout your interview, Howell says, to help build your case for why you're a star candidate.

Carolyn Kaster/AP/FileUS national security officials have to weigh whether publicly calling attention to disinformation might inadvertently amplify the very message they’re trying to bat down. In both scenarios, federal officials favored a muted public response, largely choosing to let state and local governments take the lead. State and local officials run elections and are more trusted voices in their communities, but how can federal officials act decisively to support them? “It’s a trick box,” said Adam Hickey, who worked on election security issues for the Justice Department’s National Security Division. “[W]e prioritize tabletop exercises that integrate the range of cyber, physical, and operational threats election officials may encounter,” Conley said in a statement to CNN.

Asking someone for help can feel like a burdensome request. Asking for a helper tells the other person that you respect their expertise, flattering them into agreement. That's just one example of turning "options into identities," says Jonah Berger, a marketing professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. "Framing actions as opportunities to claim desired identities will make people more likely to do them," Berger tells CNBC Make It. An ETF that's down 80% from its all-time high or one that is up 110% from its all-time low? Both of these outlandish percent moves describe the AdvisorShares Pure US Cannabis ETF (MSOS) , which is down 80% from its February '21 high and now up 110% from its October '23 low. The only discernable point here is the spike in early February'21, which lined up exactly with the ETF's all-time high. The ETF had flirted with piercing this line before – most recently this past fall - but each attempt failed before 2024. Any index, ETF or stock that's in a long-term uptrend is trading above an upward sloping 200-day moving average.

Gaining a better understanding of the impact of artificial light on these winged creatures is crucial as light pollution plays an increasing role in the decline of global insect populations, the researchers wrote. Artificial light confuses nocturnal insectsWhen artificial light does not interfere, nocturnal insects keep their backs pointed toward whatever direction is brightest, which is typically the sky versus the ground. By using insect-scale motion-capture cameras, the researchers determined that the flying insects exhibited three consistent behaviors: orbiting, stalling and inverting. Moths and other insects can become trapped in a disorienting orbit around artificial light sources such as street lamps and porch lights. The new findings could help with conservation by fueling research on how to minimize the effects of light pollution on the insects, Dombroskie said.

Both sides have employed decoys throughout the war, attempting to waste enemy fire or force the enemy to expose itself. One of the realistic mock-ups may have tricked Russia into wasting a missile on it, highlighting the role decoys play in the war.
