Yet 16 Nobel Prize-winning economists are warning that Trump’s proposals wouldn’t just fail to fix inflation — they would make matters worse. “We the undersigned are deeply concerned about the risks of a second Trump administration for the US economy,” the economists wrote in the Tuesday letter, which was first reported by Axios. The letter, organized by famed economist Joseph Stiglitz, argued there are valid reasons to worry the Trump agenda will “reignite” inflation. CNN —CNN on Thursday will do something no network has done in more than 35 years – host its own general election presidential debate. Thursday night’s presidential debate, a marketing coup for CNN and its new chief executive, Mark Thompson, will offer the network a bright spot – and expectations of record ratings, even if viewers end up watching the debate on other networks. No matter where viewers tune in to watch the primetime matchup between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, it will be clear this is a CNN debate. Rival networks, for example, have agreed to use CNN in the programming title and keep the red CNN logo on screen throughout the debate. A New York judge on Tuesday lifted parts of a gag order imposed on former President Donald Trump in his criminal hush money case, but kept some restrictions in place until Trump is sentenced. While he lifted that piece of the gag order, the judge ruled that a prohibition on disclosing juror information will remain in effect until further notice. Trump raged against the gag order when it was first imposed on March 26, about three weeks before the trial began. Trump violated the gag order 10 times during the historic trial. Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung in a statement Tuesday criticized Merchan for declining to lift the entire gag order.

Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford said he’ll take the issue to the state Supreme Court after Clark County District Court Judge Mary Kay Holthus ruled that Las Vegas was the wrong venue for the case. “They’re done,” said Margaret McLetchie, attorney for Clark County Republican Party chairman Jesse Law, one of the defendants in the case. The state Republican Party issued a statement welcoming the court decision, pointing to Ford’s vow to appeal and asking for contributions to continue the court fight. Chattah ran as a Republican in 2022 for state attorney general and lost to Ford by just under 8% of the vote. Also, unlike other states, Nevada did not have a legal challenge pending in courts at the time.

The New York Court of Appeals in a brief decision declined to hear Trump's bid "upon the ground that no substantial constitutional question is directly involved."
