WASHINGTON, June 21 (Reuters) - The U.S. House of Representatives approved a Republican effort on Wednesday to censure Representative Adam Schiff, a rare move intended to punish the Democrat for his leading role in investigating the conduct of Donald Trump when he was president. In practice, the measure, which was passed 213-209 along party lines, will result in a probe into Schiff by the Ethics Committee. Trump was impeached a second time by the House over his actions leading up to the Jan. 6, 2021, deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol. The storm caused torrential rains and helicopter searches are underway in flooded neighborhoods to find 20 others who have gone missing, the government of Rio Grande do Sul said in a press release. As of Friday night, Maquine, a municipality on the eastern coast, had received around a foot of rain, authorities said. SAO PAULO, June 17 (Reuters) - Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva entered his sixth month in office with a 37% approval rating and a 27% disapproval rating, according to a Datafolha poll released Saturday, showing a stable result compared to the same pollster's data released in March. The poll shows that 33% of those interviewed said they consider left-wing Lula as "average", while 3% had no opinion. In the previous survey, Lula had an approval rating of 38%, while 29% disapproved. Datafolha surveyed 2,010 voters in 112 municipalities across the country from June 12 to 14, and the poll has a margin of error of two percentage points. In court documents seen by Reuters, Cargill expressed interest in bidding for the assets but sought clarification about the liabilities attached to the plants. Geraldo Gouveia Jr, Imcopa's attorney, told Reuters the bankruptcy judge has made no decision yet related to the request to suspend the court-supervised auction. Bunge, which has long sought to acquire Imcopa's assets, signed a contract to buy the Araucaria and Cambe plants in May 2020. Citing bankruptcy court filings, Imcopa's Gouveia Jr said Bunge has publicly reiterated interest in buying Imcopa's plants. The assets remain attractive because they produce high value soy byproducts for export and the domestic market.

SAO PAULO, June 16 (Reuters) - Brazilian car rental company Localiza (RENT3.SA) said on Friday it will launch a follow-on share offering aimed at raising as much as 4.5 billion reais ($935.51 million) to expand its car fleet and service network. The primary offering will initially comprise 60.02 million new shares, Localiza said in a securities filing, but could be increased by up to 12.5% if demand allows it. Considering its closing price of 66.64 reais per share on Thursday, the offering would total around 4 billion reais, the company said. Shares of Localiza slipped around 2% after the move was announced, making it one of the biggest fallers on Brazil's Bovespa stock index (.BVSP). SAO PAULO, June 16 (Reuters) - A Brazilian coffee research institute has started a decisive stage in a two-decade project to develop arabica coffee varieties that are naturally decaffeinated, a development the researchers think could have significant commercial potential. The program is being developed at the Instituto Agronomico de Campinas (IAC), a leading coffee research center that has provided many of the high-yield coffee plants that have helped Brazil become a powerhouse in the global coffee market, supplying more than a third of the trade. Companies selling decaffeinated coffee as well could benefit with reduced costs, since they could skip the industrial processes to remove caffeine from regular coffee varieties. Coffee trees usually take two to three years to produce the first fruits, so there are still some years ahead until the researchers can harvest that coffee and test it. Consumption of decaffeinated coffee accounts for around 10% of the market in the United States, according to data from the National Coffee Association (NCA).
