The North Carolina lawsuit closely follows the playbook of other successful court challenges to gender-affirming care bans that have swept Republican-controlled states this year. Other plaintiffs include a North Carolina family physician who serves transgender patients and several local and national LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations. Jean Fischer Brinkley, a spokesperson for the North Carolina Medical Board, declined a request for comment. North Carolina law also prohibits using state funds to support the provision of gender-affirming care. “When I say that gender-affirming care can be lifesaving, that is not hyperbole.

The U.S. Federal Reserve building is pictured in Washington, March 18, 2008. Meanwhile, 10-year U.S. Treasuries managed their sharpest rally in more than a month at the Tokyo opening on Tuesday, on a combination of the dovish Fed remarks and demand for safe assets. Markets will have plenty more chances to hear from Fed officials, who will be out in full force at events on Tuesday while minutes of their September monetary policy meeting will be published on Wednesday. Elsewhere, the IMF and World Bank annual meetings in Morocco get into full swing, with a range of leading global policymakers set to speak. European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde makes her appearance at the meetings on Tuesday, speaking after economic data the previous day added fuel to fears of a potential recession in Germany, the euro zone's largest economy.

But if you are a believer in momentum heading into Game 3 Wednesday, then the Braves just might be the team to beat. The Phillies said all the right things in the clubhouse after Game 2. Thomson and Game 3 starter Aaron Nola said vibes were good in Philly, especially with a needed day off to regroup. Nola gave up five hits, walked two and struck out six in six-plus innings against the Braves in a Game 3 NLDS win last season. So we just got to take it game by game.

"At the end of the day, tying that to what it means for the S & P 500 in the fourth quarter, that's a much more difficult exercise." Indeed, both the Dow and the S & P 500 moved solidly into positive territory Monday afternoon, and the tech-focused Nasdaq was higher as well. Not surprisingly, energy stocks on the S & P 500 jumped 3.7%, while industrials and discretionary stocks also posted solid gains. Finally, while the market often has knee-jerk reactions to geopolitical events, they rarely last unless there are other complicating factors. "When you look back at geopolitical issues, the market looks past them," said Lindsey Bell, chief market strategist at 248 Ventures.

Travis d’Arnaud and Riley hit two-run homers as the Braves, who were held without a hit into the sixth inning, rallied from a four-run deficit to stun the Philadelphia Phillies 5-4 Monday night, evening the NL Division Series at one win apiece. But Riley alertly backed up the play and zipped a throw to first that completed the double play. Unbelievable.”So did Riley, backing up on a play that he never could've expected to be involved in. Wheeler fanned the side in each of the first two innings, with the Braves making contact on just 12 of 26 strikes. D'Arnaud made Wheeler pay on his 92nd — and final — pitch, but the Phillies manager had no regrets.

Central Florida CNN —Now that books are being banned and disappearing from school libraries, students and parents are showing up to school board meetings in Florida to argue for access to books that take on difficult subjects. Some school board lawyers are confused by the rules, and and those arguing for access have few ways to fight back.
