Among the 10 worst cities for expats this year are Paris (41st), London (42nd) and Berlin (45th). "One main problem with the big cities is that expats are less and less able to afford them," says Malte Zeeck, CEO and co-founder of Internations. The X Shore Pro, which is meant for commercial operations or coast guards, is based on the former and shares most of its specifications. The X Shore 1 costs upwards of €109,000 (about $119,000), but the more expensive models in the lineup start at €195,000 (about $213,000). According to Keisu, the experience of riding an X Shore boat is radically different to a traditional one. “The only difference is that we [X Shore] use our batteries also for propulsion, so we have much larger battery packs,” she says. However, technological constraints may be slowing down the electrification of boats, including small leisure boats such as those manufactured by X Shore.

It has never been easy for small or independent music venues to turn a profit. Now, with inflated operating costs, some owners are struggling to keep ticket prices affordable for audiences and take chances on lesser-known artists. But many smaller, independent venues have yet to see business return to pre-pandemic levels, according to Stephen Parker, executive director of the National Independent Venue Association. "If you are a larger venue, you're probably doing quite well post-pandemic," he said. The latest challenge facing NIVA's network of independent venues, Parker said, is protecting margins in the face of higher costs.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Oakland Athletics’ move to Las Vegas was unanimously approved Thursday by Major League Baseball team owners, cementing the sport’s first relocation since 2005, according to two people familiar with the vote. Las Vegas will become the fourth city for a franchise that played in Philadelphia from 1901-54, moved to Kansas City for 13 seasons and arrived in Oakland for 1968. The new stadium will be the team’s fifth after Columbia Park (1901-08), Shibe Park (1909-54), Memorial Stadium (1955-67) and the Coliseum. The team announced April 19 it had purchased land in Las Vegas, then a month later replaced that location with a deal with Bally’s and Gaming & Leisure Properties to build a stadium on the Tropicana hotel site along the Las Vegas Strip. While San Francisco/Oakland/San Jose is the 10th-largest television market in the U.S., Las Vegas is the 40th.

America is the sixth-most-expensive place in the world to build subways and trolleys. The solutions will cost trillions of dollars and require a pace of building unseen in America since World War II. Perhaps the single most pressing question we face today is: How do we make America build again? "For this class of projects, federal environmental laws are more the exception." The prospect of overhauling our hard-won environmental laws might feel like sacrilege to anyone who cares about the Earth.

Ethics panel concludes sexual harassment allegation against Santos was not substantiatedThe House Ethics panel said there was not substantial evidence to support a sexual harassment allegation brought against Santos. But the report also indicates that there was some tension between the overlapping DOJ criminal probe and House ethics probe. The ethics panel reached out to the Justice Department to deconflict their investigations, and top DOJ officials asked them in March to pause the ethics probe. The House report says DOJ’s “deferral requests” prevented them from getting to the bottom of certain allegations.

MONTREAL, Nov 15 (Reuters) - Airfare to popular international leisure destinations should cost less this winter and next summer than a year ago as carriers add capacity, the CEO of Canada's WestJet Airlines told Reuters on Wednesday. WestJet expects to fly almost half of the seats to sun destinations after acquiring leisure carrier Sunwing this year.
