A California driver was charged with fatally mowing down a man whom she accused of trying to run over a cat, authorities said Wednesday. Hannah Star Esser, 20, was charged with murder and is being held on $1 million bail in the Sept. 25 encounter in Cypress, a Southern California suburb southeast of Los Angeles, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement. Prosecutors say Esser confronted Luis Anthony Victor, 43, because she believed he was trying to hit a cat with his car. She is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 13 and could face 25 years to life in prison.

A rescue team recovered her body near the peak of Mount Manaslu , the eighth highest summit in the world. Google launches new "vibe" feature that allows users to show the business, weather and features of a particular location on any given day. Google now says it has enough local data to predict a neighborhood's “vibes" in search results. It's part of the way Google is more tightly integrating maps data as it redesigns its search features to go beyond text and images. The features combine artificial intelligence with local data from Google Maps users who add more than 20 million “contributions” including reviews, photos and videos, the company said. The "immersive view," will be able to combine aerial views with weather, traffic and crowds data.
The company is trying to appeal to younger users who are moving away from text-based searching. "Until you really stop and think about it, you don't realize how many questions you have each day that you do not actually search for," Google Search VP Cathy Edwards told Insider in an interview. The company trying to buy Trump's Truth Social has changed its HQ address to a UPS mailbox. Digital World Acquisition previously had its HQ address listed as a WeWork building in Miami. The blank-check company's proposed deal with Truth Social has been plagued by setbacks. A buyout deal between Digital World and Truth Social was first announced in October 2021, and was originally set to close in September 2022. Digital World did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment, made outside of regular working hours.
