In the court document filed Monday, Sheil denied allegations of copyright infringement made in Gifford’s lawsuit. In her lawsuit, Gifford alleges that Sheil had blocked her on Instagram and TikTok in January 2023 after the two met for a photo shoot collaboration. In her lawsuit, Gifford listed multiple examples of Sheil’s posts that she argues are similar to her own and shared screenshots of the examples as exhibits. “Neutral colors have been in for some time,” Sheil’s attorneys argue, citing Chip and Joanna Gaines’ HGTV programs and celebrities such as Hailey Bieber, who tap into the same aesthetic. Gifford’s lawsuit also noted that the creators use Amazon Storefront, which creators often use as a one-stop shop for their followers to browse their product recommendations.

A particular type of retail fraud soars during the summer season. Scot Case, executive director of the Center for Retail Sustainability at the National Retail Federation, said wardrobing can drive up costs and waste for retailers if the product can no longer be resold. "As companies build and integrate take back programs to repair and resell used items, returns take on a new role, fueling a new circular market." The average value of a returned item for Optoro's customers is $85. The highest item value reported as returned in the survey was $200.

Marwa Abdelhady and Doaa Elghobashy represented Egypt at the Paris Olympics, wearing hijabs, long black sleeved shirts and black ankle length leggings in a women’s beach volleyball match against Spain. Speaking to CNN’s Swedish affiliate Expressen Thursday, Abdelhady said that she “doesn’t like” the hijab ban for French athletes. “I want to play in my hijab, she wants to play in a bikini,” Expressen reported Elghobashy as saying. Among those headed back to Russia are convicted hackers and several Russian nationals detained in the West for spying. And the biggest prize for Russia was the return of Vadim Krasikov, a convicted hitman whose release had been publicly sought by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Anna Chapman, one of 10 Russian sleeper agents deported from the US in a 2010 prisoner swap, was also feted on her return to Russia. Britain blamed the poisoning on Russia; Russia has consistently denied involvement, although Putin referred to Skripal as a “scumbag” and a “traitor,” his contempt suggesting that Skripal had gotten his just desserts. The release of Russians in the swap means that Russia’s political climate is no less repressive.

CNN —A large-scale prisoner swap between the US and Russia is under way, according to a source familiar, and it is expected to include Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich, former US Marine Paul Whelan and a number of Americans. The parties have agreed to a prisoner transfer and the prisoners are expected to be in the care of US officials, according to a senior administration official. The deal would end a nightmare that lasted more than five years for Whelan and more than a year for Gershkovich. In their analysis, women tended to be more articulate and detailed in their drug reviews and experience, while men were vaguer. One 2023 study looking at Yelp reviews found that the persuasiveness of reviews by gender depended on product category. Spend some time browsing YouTube or Instagram and you might come across a growing new genre: China travel vlogs. The videos are even more popular on Chinese social media. YouTube and Instagram are banned in China, but Chinese users have found ways to reshare them to Chinese sites, to avid followings. The bloggers have been interviewed by Chinese state media and their experiences promoted with trending hashtags such as “Foreign tourists have become our internet spokespeople.”The emergence of these videos reflects the return of foreign travelers to China after the country isolated itself for three years during the Covid pandemic. Travel bloggers have leaped at the chance to see a country to which they previously had limited access.
