Then, McCarthy has vowed to give House members 72 hours to read it, and passage through the House and Senate will each take several more days. House Democrats have backed this idea but could not succeed unless enough of the Republican majority joined them. SENATE FOLLOWSIf passed by the House, the legislation goes to the Senate where Democrats hold a 51-49 majority over Republicans. If there were to be a 50-50 tie in the Senate, Vice President Kamala Harris can cast the vote to win 51-50 passage. Upon passage by the House and Senate, the deal would go to the White House for Biden to sign into law.

Both players are tied on a record 22 Grand Slam titles but Djokovic can inch ahead at Roland Garros where he had managed to beat Nadal only twice in 10 meetings. I don't like seeing him in the draw of Roland Garros," Djokovic told reporters with a laugh. "I have had not so much success against him in our head-to-head record in Roland Garros. "Definitely a great motivational factor for me to keep playing and keep competing and keep pushing each other - who's going achieve more, who's going to do better." "It made me wonder, it made me think about my career and how long I'm going to play," Djokovic said.

NEW DELHI, May 28 (Reuters) - Several of India's top wrestlers, including Olympic medallists Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik, were detained by police on Sunday as they intensified their protest demanding the arrest of their federation chief over sexual harassment allegations. The wrestlers originally hit the street in January demanding action against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who has denied allegations of sexually harassing several female athletes. The wrestlers resumed their protest on April 23 demanding Singh's arrest and have since been camping near the new parliament building which Modi inaugurated on Sunday. "They broke the barricades and didn't follow police directions," senior Delhi Police officer Dependra Pathak told local media. Malik, who won the women's 58kg freestyle bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics, shared photos and video of the wrestlers being dragged away by the police.

"Salaries of ESG and non-ESG personnel started to diverge in 2020, in line with the spike in hiring in ESG roles due to the increasing focus on ESG and sustainable investing in the finance sector," said Loujaina Abdelwahed, an economist at the company. Revelio Labs scraped online professional profiles for people with finance roles in commercial and investment banking and asset management and split them into those with ESG or sustainability in their job titles and those without. Reuters GraphicsSince 2019, the rate of base salary growth for ESG roles has been about 38 percentage points higher than non-ESG personnel, Abdelwahed said. ESG-tagged roles overtook non-ESG on a six-month moving average basis in June 2020 and in August 2021 surged to peak around $109,846, fully $20,000 higher than non-ESG. The gap shrank in the second half of 2021 but grew again into this year: in April 2023 average ESG salaries were $110,348 versus $90,283.
SYDNEY, May 19 (Reuters) - Australia's stock market operator said it will no longer attempt to rebuild its software platform with blockchain-based technology, one of the highest-profile repudiations of the once-feted concept best known for powering cryptocurrency. Until now, ASX has said it may resurrect the project using blockchain-based technology developed by New York-based contractor Digital Asset. Digital Asset, in which ASX bought a small stake after hiring it to rebuild its software in 2016, was not immediately available for comment. Whiteley told the meeting ASX was on track to decide a new strategy by year-end. Market participants had told ASX they did not want a risky, single-date changeover to new software, and "that feedback has been taken into the implementation planning", Whiteley said.

An investigative committee of the U.S. Federal Circuit Court of Appeals rejected a request by Judge Pauline Newman, 95, to transfer the probe to another circuit. The Washington-based Federal Circuit said it will not comment on the order or other related documents it released on Tuesday. The Federal Circuit disclosed the probe last month, citing concerns about Newman's ability to handle cases and her refusal to cooperate with the investigation. Newman was appointed by President Ronald Reagan in 1984 to the patent law-focused Federal Circuit, which often hears major cases involving technology and pharmaceutical companies.

The Japanese e-commerce and fintech company's board could meet as early as this week to decide on the capital raising, which is expected to raise roughly 300 billion yen ($2.2 billion), sources told Reuters on Monday. Prospects of a share dilution led on Monday to the biggest one-day drop in three years. "Whenever there is a large sale of new equity, that is dilutive but it also forces decisions about whether to hold. Some will be upset and will sell," said analyst Travis Lundy of Quiddity Advisors, who publishes on Smartkarma. Rakuten said in a statement it was not true that any such decision had been made.
