The walkouts over wage increases as Europe's cost-of-living crisis deepens have caused thousands of fuel stations to run dry. Workers at TotalEnergies' Donges refinery voted to end their strike on Wednesday. But one in five fuel stations face supply difficulties, with the number higher in the Paris region. Drivers are running out of diesel as they search for open fuel stations. Delays have resulted in a small number of contracts being cancelled, she said, speaking at her office in Mitry-Mory, east of Paris.

A couple browses a car's sticker price. For example, Mercedes-Benz purchasers paid between 2% to 4% more than the sticker price. On top of that, the average price of used cars has been steadily dropping, even if that was coming down from a very high point. In August, the average used car sold for $28,061, a 4% year-over-year decline but still up nearly 40% from December 2019 before the Covid-19 pandemic. The recent decline is a function of used car sales slowing, down 9% in August from a year earlier, making it even more likely you might get a good deal on a used car lot.
But it may be tough for consumers to get the full value of the tax credit — at least initially. The tax credit 'bummer': It's nonrefundableThe legislation, called the Inflation Reduction Act, made the tax credit "nonrefundable." This person wouldn't get the full $7,500 tax credit — they'd be able to claim $5,000 and cut their tax bill to zero. More from Personal Finance:Missed a tax credit from last year? It's unclear which electric vehicles will meet these standards and qualify for a tax credit next year.

On Tuesday, Honda announced plans to invest $4.4 billion in an EV battery production plant in Anna, Ohio, in another joint venture with LG Energy Solution. The Honda Prologue, built in partnership with GM, is set to launch in 2024.

Sean Rayford | Getty ImagesIf you're planning to shop for a used car in the next few months, be sure to check for flood damage before signing on the dotted line. Flooded cars are 'rotting from the inside out'Floodwaters can destroy — sometimes slowly — electronics, lubricants and mechanical systems in vehicles. Not all titles will reflect flood damageThat's because not all flooded cars are recorded as such unless an insurance company is involved. Reselling them to consumers can get on the right side of the law if the title discloses the flood damage. So, with no insurance company involvement there may not be any official record of the flood damage.
Chinese Nio electric car is seen at Nio's first European plant and power swap station in Biatorbagy, Hungary, September 16, 2022. Prices range from around 50,000-70,000 euros ($49,000-$69,000), depending on the car's range and whether customers buy or rent the battery. Nio will stick to direct sales in existing markets in part due to less attractive taxation on subscription models in Norway and restrictions around licence plates in China, Li said. "The advantage of our business separating the car from the battery is that we may reach economies of scale for the batteries faster than the cars," Li said. "In the long-run we believe any top company in the automotive industry will soon have in-house battery production," Li said.
That's what Citroën has done with a new concept car designed in anticipation of a resourceless world, using cardboard instead of steel for those parts. This and a vertical windscreen designed to reduce the amount of glass needed and save weight make the electric Citroën "Oli" concept car look like a futuristic SUV. "It's more than just a concept car like you're used to seeing," Citroën director of future products Anne Laliron told Reuters. Designers at Dacia, the low-cost brand of Renault (RENA.PA), have also tried their hand at this exercise, coming up with the "Manifesto" concept car. Work on the concept car began in 2019 and has arrived in an era beset by raw material shortages caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the war in Ukraine.
A general view of the Tata Tiago EV electric hatchback that was unveiled during a global launch event in Mumbai, India, September 28, 2022. REUTERS/Francis MascarenhasNEW DELHI, Sept 28 (Reuters) - Tata Motors (TAMO.NS) launched India's lowest priced electric car at a little over $10,000 on Wednesday as the country's only electric vehicle (EV) maker looks to draw in more buyers. Tata leads India's EV market, helped by government subsidies and high tariffs on imports. That is much cheaper than India's next most affordable EV - the electric version of Tata's Tigor compact sedan which starts at around $14,940. China, however, has some EV models that start as low as 32,800 yuan ($4,525).
A group of Oscar Health alums aims to create tech to tame the chaos of healthcare-provider data. When Anshul Rathi joined Oscar Health in 2017, the health-insurance upstart didn't have a system to verify the credentials of medical providers covered by the insurer's health plans. General Catalyst led the startup's $14.5 million Series A in September, bringing CertifyOS's total funding to $20 million. Existing investors Upfront Ventures, Max Ventures, and Arkitekt Ventures also contributed to the Series A. The startup removed information about its financial growth and private client details from the pitch deck before sharing it with Insider.
Automakers are also investing capital in off-road models and electric vehicles. "In the transition to electric vehicles, and where do automakers put their development money, it just isn't going to convertibles." Even counting those vehicles, sales last year were down by 26% since 2015. Jim Owens, head of Ford Mustang marketing, said only about 15% of the car's sales to consumers — 72,500 units in 2019 — are convertibles. Could we see a possible convertible electric Challenger in the future?
Cate Culp: So today, we're going to be looking at Paisley, it's a 1960 Euro beetle and this car was built for our charity beetle promotion. Cate: Once it comes back from blast, we make a sort of a full list of the amount of metal work that needs to be done so any replacement panels that we need to purchase to go into metal work. So there was a bit of a bit of a process trying to work out how to engineer that. I think I bring a lot of that into the design work of the cars that we build. But at the end of the day, they're still a beetle, and they still have that same energy.
Last year, a Finnish Tesla owner blew up his EV to protest a similar issue. Last week, Mario Zelaya posted a TikTok video calling out the issue and it received over 15 million views. In an earlier video, the Toronto-based Tesla owner posted images of a service estimate from Tesla dated March 14. The estimate showed that a replacement battery for the electric car would cost over $28,000 in Canadian dollars or more than $21,000 US dollars. Last year, a man from Finland filmed a video of himself blowing up his 2013 Tesla Model S after he discovered a replacement battery would cost $22,600.

Sept 19 (Reuters) - Red Bull team boss Christian Horner said it would be a "massive ask" for them to win all six remaining races on the calendar despite the team having won five in a row and closing in on the drivers and constructors' championships. Red Bull have won 11 of the 16 races so far and Max Verstappen could wrap up the title in Singapore early next month. When asked if Red Bull could run the table over the final weeks of the season, Horner told Autosport, "that's a massive ask and (there is) some huge variance of circuits. (CNN) A silver Aston Martin DB5 that had been owned by actor Sean Connery was sold at auction Thursday for $2.4 million. It was a 1964 Aston Martin DB5, just the sort of car that British secret agent James Bond drove in the 1960s films in which he was played by Connery. But the 1964 is still the best known "Bond car." The company had expected it to sell for between $1.4 million and $1.8 million at its collector car auction in Monterey, California. The auction is one of a number of collector car sales during Monterey Car Week, an annual series of classic car events on California's Monterey Peninsula.
