REUTERS/Brendan McDermid Acquire Licensing RightsNov 7 (Reuters) - Robinhood Markets (HOOD.O) missed Wall Street estimates for third-quarter revenue on Tuesday, weighed by a slowdown in trading activity, sending shares of the online brokerage down more than 9% in extended trading. Robinhood was at the center of the 2021 retail trading frenzy, driven by mom-and-pop investors who used the company's commission-free platform to pump money into so-called "meme stocks" during the pandemic-era lockdowns. Reuters GraphicsAccording to company executives, Robinhood often sees lower trading volumes around the holidays in November and December. The company also expects its interest revenue to decline in the current quarter on a sequential basis. Reuters GraphicsRobinhood's net revenue rose 29% to $467 million in the three months ended Sept. 30, but missed analysts' expectations of $478.4 million, as per LSEG data.

Voters in Ohio will decide on enshrining abortion rights in the state constitution, as well as legalizing recreational marijuana use. Will voters in Ohio back abortion rights? Beyond abortion, the most watched initiative will be, again, in Ohio, where voters will decide whether cannabis should be legalized for recreational use. That could put pressure on Congress to move forward legislation at least to ease restrictions on interstate banking for legal cannabis businesses. Texans will also decide whether to raise the mandatory retirement age of state judges to 79, from 75.

Bezos makes third losing bet on real estate
  + stars: | 2023-11-03 | by ( Ben Winck | ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +4 min
It’s not the only questionable real estate decision Bezos has made in the past several years. He announced in a Thursday Instagram post that he will move to Miami, leaving the Washington city where he founded Amazon in 1994. Bezos grew up in the south-Florida city in the early 1980s, and he will return to a two-mansion compound worth some $147 million, according to Bloomberg. Miami-based real estate had a renaissance during the pandemic as people sought warmer climates where they could be outside. Still, the founder is no stranger to real estate bets that don’t always make financial sense.
