Aug 10 (Reuters) - Nick Kyrgios has withdrawn from the U.S. Open, the United States Tennis Association (USTA) said on Thursday as the Australian continues to recover from ankle and wrist injuries that have limited him to one tournament this season. The 28-year-old had surgery on his left knee earlier in the year and was beaten in his comeback match following a five-month layoff when he fell to China's Wu Yibing in the Stuttgart Open first round in June. Kyrgios missed the French Open due to a foot injury suffered during the theft of his car and pulled out of Wimbledon with wrist issues. Germany Jan-Lennard Struff has also withdrawn from the U.S. Open, the USTA said. Due to the withdrawals Argentine's Facundo Diaz Acosta and Diego Schwartzman move into the main draw.

GLASGOW, Aug 6 (Reuters) - Protesters halted the men's road race at the UCI World Championships for almost an hour on Sunday, stopping the peloton in its tracks after 80km. A nine-rider breakaway group, which was seven minutes ahead of the main bunch, was approaching the Crow Road climb on the route from Edinburgh to Glasgow. Police Scotland said their Protest Removal Team had arrested five protesters. The race was allowed to continue on towards Glasgow at 12.16pm with the leading group starting first in order to preserve their time advantage. On Wednesday, the British star posted a video to Instagram of her gently rallying on a practice court at the National Tennis Centre in west London. Raducanu has suffered a myriad of injuries since winning her maiden grand slam at the US Open in 2021. As well as struggling through the various injuries, the youngster has also said she’s struggled mentally with the pressure and expectation.
